About Our Staff

Jennifer Grod
Jennifer Grod had to travel over a couple of bridges to get to Hofstra University from her hometown of Union, New Jersey. She loves to catch a glimpse of the New York City lights on her drive. Jennifer cannot believe that she will be entering her senior year as she finishes her degree in broadcast journalism, with minors in theater and political science. Around campus, you can find this Jersey girl producing and anchoring a news cast at WRHU-88.7FM, Radio Hofstra University, where she is currently one of the news directors; rehearsing a song with Chai Notes; eating a Shabbat meal with Hofstra Hillel; or setting up equipment at her on-campus job in Audiovisual Services. If you dont see or hear her on campus, you can find her at an internship in New York City. Last semester, she had the opportunity to intern at CBS Sunday Morning. In the fall, she will be interning at WABC in the investigative unit. She is hoping to snag one more internship before she leaves Hofstra. In her free time, she loves to act like a tourist in New York City, sunbathe at the Jersey shore, and watch Adam Sandler movies.

Elysha Johnson
Elysha Johnson was born and raised in the beautiful town of Columbia, MD. She is a senior and is excited to graduate a semester early this December! Elysha originally had aspirations of opening a dance studio for AIDS orphans in her mothers home country of Zambia, and thus undertook a double major in dance and business at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. She eventually traded in the beach and palm trees for city life as a transfer student. She dropped her dance major and continued her studies at Hofstra solely as an entrepreneurship major. Elysha is a member of the Student Government Association Programming Board, where she helps to plan activities for the entire student body. In her free time, Elysha LOVES to bake! As a child, she would spend her Saturdays baking way too many batches of cookies and cupcakes and selling these treats at the end of her driveway to neighbors and passersby. She also loves the company of friends and family, a good movie, and traveling the world.

Batson Xiang Li
With an enthusiasm and curiosity for the world around him, Batson Xiang Li was born and raised as Li Xiang in a small city in northeast China. He had a fabulous childhood and was full of imagination. Batson dreamed of one day living in the United States. That dream came true earlier than he thought when, at the age of 16, his family moved to Los Angeles, California. As he became immersed in American culture, Batson adapted quickly to a new life and became comfortable using the English language. He also discovered new talents and interests such as fashion design and theatrical drama. He likes to watch Vampire Diaries and Sherlock Holmes on the weekends and enjoys the works of Shakespeare and Vincent van Gogh. His favorite musicians are Mozart and Beethoven, as well as Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga. Currently, Batson is a sophomore at Hofstra, majoring in drama. He is a member of Spectrum Players and is very passionate about theater.

Hofstra P.R.I.D.E. Principles
At Hofstra, were all about showing our Pride. Whether its attending an athletic event, volunteering time as a tutor, or joining an organization on campus, students can show their school spirit in a variety of ways. In order to do this, its important to know what we represent as a community. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the P.R.I.D.E. Principles, since we apply these principles not only to our behavior, but also to academic integrity.
