Question What happens when the duct gets dirty?

Answer The duct system is dismantled and washed in a washing machine. Please refer to our standard maintenance instructions. No. The colours will not fade during ordinary use in normal applications.

Tips The washing frequency is reduced by using properly engineered pre-filters upstream of the duct. If in doubt, please consult one of our engineers for advice. A fabric dispersion system should not be exposed to direct sunlight or unusual chemical vapours. If in doubt, please consult one of our engineers for advice.

Will the colours fade?

Can the duct catch fire?

No. The fabrics used in the various fabric dispersion systems are classified as flame retardant or normally combustible. Fabric is neutral in terms of noise. This means that the fabric itself does not generate or convey noise. Well engineered fabric ducts do not create draughts in offices, lounges or workspaces. At FabricAir, we do not use unnecessarily heavy fabrics. All our standard fabrics weigh less than 300 g/m. Installation is quick and easy. The system can also be installed by unskilled labour. Under ordinary operation and maintenance, FabricAirDispersion Systems can last 15 years or more. Some of our systems are still in operation after 30 years. FabricAir is an UL-registered firm and is certified pursuant to ISO 9001:2000. FabricAir uses Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to audit our quality system.

Further details on fire classifications are found in our technical documentation.

Does a fabric duct generate noise?

Always place a proper silencer between the fan and the duct to reduce the risk of mechanical noise generated by the system or the sound of rushing air. Every dimensioning should always be verified before production by a FabricAir engineer. Choose lightweight fabrics wherever possible. Maintenance costs are based on weight: as a result, heavy ducts mean higher service costs. This saves up to 75% on labour, compared to sheet metal ducts.

What about draughts? What do the duct fabrics weigh?

How easy is it to install this type of duct? How long will it last?

Proper maintenance and care extends the service life of the fabric system. FabricAirrecommends that you enter into a service agreement wherever possible.

What about quality?

If in doubt, please request our current Certificate of Compliance.

Proven Performance
For more than 30 years, FabricAir has provided fabric dispersion systems for more than 75,000 installations. A total of more than 8 million metres of ducts. We call our many years of experience proven performance.

Teamwork Makes Us More Competitive

Developments in modern fabric dispersion systems are taking place so quickly that we need sophisticated laboratories and a large engineering staff for research to stay competitive. We cannot do this on our own. For this reason, we have chosen to ensure our future through partnerships. We chose the Austrian company Sattler AG - our business associate for many years - to perform research into and manufacture our permeable fabrics. Our goal is to achieve an industrial manufacturing process based on advanced technology instead of establishing our own textile manufacturing processes. Sattler AG is one of Europes largest textile factories and has devoted one of its production lines to FabricAirs fabrics.

Optimal Permeable* Fabrics

FabricAirs permeable* fabrics were specially developed for optimised application in air dispersion systems. See how this is done in points 1-5 below. 1Insignificant water absorption The drier the fabric environment, the lower the risk of bacterial growth. FabricAirs fabrics are woven solely from top-grade polyester. Even under extreme conditions, these basic materials absorb no more than 0.5% moisture, which retards bacterial growth. 2Lowest shrinkage in the market The dimensions of a fabric dispersion system should not change! FabricAirs fabrics are woven from pretreated fibres that are also heat-treated during the dyeing process. This stabilises the fibres to such an extent that we guarantee a shrinkage of less than 0.5%. This prevents the

dimensions of FabricAirs systems from changing. 3Lowest permeability tolerance Stable tolerance at design pressure is ensured by means of stable permeability! The permeability tolerances of FabricAirs fabrics are only 5%. The thicker large-surface weaves on the market have tolerances of over 20%. If driven to extremes this results in lower air volume than expected. 4Weighs up to 35% less Higher weight means higher maintenance costs! We focus our development efforts on the variable operating costs of the fabric dispersion systems. To keep them under control, we have minimised the weight of our materials because we know that maintenance costs are proportionate to the weight of the material. These efforts have succeeded at the same time as we have maintain the durability and stability of our fabric. Compared to competitive fabrics, FabricAirs weave often weighs up to 35% less. This results in corresponding operational savings. 5Dyeing is standard The dyeing process and finishing treatment are so efficient that FabricAir can deliver all standard colours without charging a higher price. With us, you do not pay more for dyes that should be standard. * Note: permeable means penetrable.
