WHO AM I? I have no respect for justice. I maim without killing. I break hearts and ruin lives. I am cruel and malicious and gather strength with age. The more I am quoted, the more I am believed. I flourish at every level of society. My victims are helpless. They cannot protect themselves against me because I have no name and no face. To track me down is impossible. The harder you try, the more elusive I become. Im nobodys friend. Once I tarnish a reputation, it is never the same. I topple governments and ruin marriages. I ruin careers and cause sleepless nights, Heartaches, and indigestion. I spawn suspicion and generate grief. I make innocent people cry in their pillows. Even my name hisses. I am Gossip. ----Author Unknown

Woe to the Shepherds who Feed Themselves: Should They not Feed the Flock?
Ezekiel 34
We live in a most difficult day in America. Right and evil are contending for the throne and evil seems to have the lead. If you have lived at least sixty years, you will remember the glory days of the church. It was not real difficult to get a crowd for a special meeting in those days. Many preachers would put a microphone on the top of their car and drive around town inviting people to the meeting and most of the town would come out to the meeting. A good many of the preachers would preach anywhere from one hour to two hours and nobody fell asleep! Not today! Sermons today are from fifteen to thirty minutes and some places only once a week. We are not getting a whole lot of the Word of God from our pulpits.

One day we were talking to a preacher who was complaining that people cannot endure long sermons anymore. He said, Paul preached till midnight. My wife, Gloria said, Yes, and he raised the dead! When you can raise the dead then Ill listen to you till midnight. Actually, Paul preached all night and into the morning hours. Our problem is that we do not preach with the power or the passion that Paul had and it is hard to sit through a sermon that is lacking the moving of the Holy Spirit! Have you noticed that many churches are dwindling away? Oh, we have many mega churches that have large numbers, but they must work hard at activities to keep people motivated because the Word of God is not attractive to this generation. Even many of those who are faithful to the house of God never pick up their Bibles during the week. We have been told that in America twelve churches close their doors every day. We are not thriving, we are dying! There are many reasons for the condition of America, but the main reason is that God has not been honored as the God of America for some time. America has gone her own way and the results are sickness and death. We have today a sick nation and dying churches. If you attend a thriving church, thank God. There are very few today.

Woe to the Shepherds who Feed Themselves: Should They not Feed the Flock?
One of the saddest things that has happened in America is that so many Shepherds have not fed their flocks!!! Pastors, or Shepherds, as the Scripture calls them, that feed off of the house of God and leave the flock to hunger and thirst do such an evil to Gods children. Somewhere in the last couple of decades pastoring has become a business instead of a ministry. You work for a business in hopes of receiving as many benefits as possible. You work a ministry in hopes of serving as many people as possible and of receiving, Well done, thou good and faithful servant when you stand before the Heavenly Father. Oh yes, we do hope that the people will take care of our material needs, but our motivation should never be material gain. To be a Pastor or a Shepherd is a great responsibility. He is given a flock to protect and feed and he is to watch out for predators. Many of Gods sheep are wandering in open fields today without food and water and God is grieved because of it. Many were wounded in the church and no one cared or they never told anyone, they just went away. Some years ago it was a normal thing to see someone at the altar weeping for someone they loved. Today the weeping is mostly for themselves because of something someone has done to them. When was the last time you saw someone burdened and troubled over a lost person? Our religion is not working from the inside of the cup. It is only the outside that we are cleaning so often.

Jesus ministry did no damage to any soul. He was gentle, compassionate, longsuffering and forgiving. Does our ministry resemble the ministry of Christ? What does our flock look like? I agree that the fields that we must work in today are not the cleanest fields or the best nourishment, and because of that, it is hard to keep the flock fed and healthy. BUT, its the pastors job to do the best he can to gather, feed and love Gods sheep.

If you have been in the ministry very long, you have been wounded or offended by a sheep. Not all sheep are easy to care for, but we must not let the ugly turn us into ugliness. We must not just feed ourselves only on the riches of Christ, but we must feed and share with those sheep that Christ died for. There will always be shepherds like the ones in Ezekiels day, but there will also be those who give their lives for Gods sheep. I dont know about you, but as a pastor I want to tend Gods sheep in a way that will rejoice the heart of God. Just as He loves us, His shepherds, He loves His sheep. The Lord is asking Gloria and I to place ourselves in a tight place in order to help one of our hurting sheep. We did this in our youth, but it is quite different in our latter years. We have no retirement and what little bit we tucked aside, we turned over to this ministry, knowing, that as always, God will take care of us. Reach out to your sheep and do what you can to heal their hurts and feed their souls. They are worth it! Christ died for them. Have you ever seen a doctor or nurse who has become hard hearted because of all the hurt and trouble they see every day? They lose their compassion. When we serve our people they need to know our hearts come with our service and that our compassion fails not! Well never be as great as Christ, but we ought to strive to be as close as possible.

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, This was Jesus ministry. He was anointed to preach. He was to preach the gospel, not a feel good sermon. There are many sermons that are great learning sermons, but have nothing to do with the gospel. They are not bad sermons, but until the gospel is preached they have not preached like Jesus. We can and should preach and teach sermons that will aid and help peoples everyday lives but there is no redemption without the gospel and we need to remember that. Jesus preached to the poor! Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matt. 5:3) Until a person feels poor and needy they are not looking for help. Jesus said, I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Luke 5:32) We are to seek those who are hungry. Even the saved get hungry. The Lord said to the shepherds in Ezekiels day that they did feed themselves and not the flock. He said they had not strengthened the diseased, they had not healed the sick, and they had not brought those that were driven away back. He said they had not sought the lost, BUT with force and cruelty they had ruled them. (Ezekiel 34) The Lord said that the flock had become meat for the beasts of the field. The flock wandered through mountains and every high hill. The sad thing was, none did search or seek after them. It was said of Jesus that A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. (Matt 12:20)

EXAMPLES THAT MADE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR LIVES!

1 Tim 4:12-16 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

we became aware of just how hard it is to do right and that all of our labours do not always bring perfection. We begin to be grateful for what our parents did right and merciful to them for the things they did not perfect. Then, our parents died and all of a sudden they were back to being perfect parents!!! Never forget their importance to your life. Next, God brought a man of God into our lives who taught us to desire to live by faith. That man was Bro. Lester Roloff. He was like a father to us and we knew that we could call him from wherever we were and if we needed him he would be there. He was a great friend. We watched him live and walk by faith. Many people heard his messages about faith, but we saw his actions of faith and it made us want to walk only by faith. We dont do all things today the way he did but we had a kindred spirit concerning faith. Later came a man who opened our eyes to knowing how to walk in the Spirit and not the flesh. That man was Bill Gothard and the year was 1971. We had always given our all to serving the Lord, but we mostly were working through the flesh to do so and it is hard to serve God in the flesh. Plus, it is impossible to please Him while walking in the flesh (Heb. 11:6). The quickest way to teach someone to walk in the Spirit is to teach them to OBEY always and work through your God given authorities. You will get your approval from God when you OBEY and you will get your directions from God when you honor and respect your authorities. Life is so much more fun and rewarding when you live like this. Last, but not least, came a man who being dead yet speaketh! It took us five years to find George Mullers book on the Life of Trust. He taught us how to ask and receive. That book changed our lives and we began to have testimony after testimony of how God provided for our needs.

I did not have a normal growing up, if there is such a thing. I was loved by my mother and my step dad, but they were not stable the first years of my life because of my step dads drinking. After his salvation, everything began to be more normal as time went on. Through those years I learned to try and make sure that my life was aimed at being more normal. Glorias life was not normal either. Her father moved often to do ministry and just like me, she never attended the same school two years in a row. While my family was out of church and Glorias were in church, we both were trying to grow up moving all over the country. When we married, we both said we were not going to do our family that way. We were going to get a nice house and settle down. Famous last words! At 60 years of age, Gloria and I had moved some 63 times in our lives. Now before you conclude that we were ignorant, remember that God moved the Israelites 41 times in the 40 years while they lived in the wilderness! Even though I was raised mostly out of church and Gloria constantly in church, we both learned some important lessons from our parents. My mother and my step dad taught me to work and to be faithful. Glorias parents taught her how to love others. My ability brought stability to the home and Glorias ability brought lasting relationships to the home. Those two qualities are what we built our home upon. Other than those two things, we had much to learn about God, about family, about self and about abundant living. I learned faithfulness from my mothers life. My father left my mother before my birth and my mother had five children to feed and clothe. She ironed and cleaned for other people and worked long hard hours. She never turned her back on her responsibilities to her children. Glorias father was a pastor who took his work very seriously. He spent hours feeding, doctoring and searching for the sheep when they were hurt and lost. Gloria loved her father and wanted to be just like him. Early in life she had a love and burden for hurting people. Now many people have been used of God in our lives to teach us the truths of God, but there are a few men that were the turning points of our lives. First were our parents which I believe are the most important ones to life, either by the good they showed us or the evil they showed us. They are the greatest influence we have. We learn what to do and what not to do by the results we see in our parents lives. When we were young, we thought our parents were perfect. When we became parents, we reconized all their shortcomings and we were going to show them how it should have been done. When our children became teenagers

woman must have these qualities to be a good woman. He is not asking more of one than the other. He is revealing the things that will make us great. So what is Paul saying to us? Our behavior (or our condition) should become holiness (holiness is acting like God). Until Gods ways become our ways, we are not a picture or example of godliness. You might ask, What are Gods ways? Well, not false accusers, not given to much wine, and teachers of good things is a good start on learning Gods ways. If you practice these three, you are on your way to a life of peace. Not false accusers! Why does the Scripture put that requirement first? Because our imagination can run away with itself and if we believe everything we think, we will falsely accuse others. The imagination is wonderful and can help us dream and do great things, but it also can make us think hurtful thoughts of others. Did you ever walk into a room and imagine that your friend was talking about you, only to find out that it wasnt you they were talking about? If you had accused that friend, you would have been a false accuser. We must make sure, before we act, that we are acting on truth and not imagination. One of the things that wives do so often is imagine that their husbands have been looking at other women, and maybe they have, but until you know that for sure you cannot say so without falsely accusing your husband. People who are judged falsely are not very glad to be your friend. Wait until you know that you have the truth, and then do that which is right with the truth and it will set you free. Not given to much wine! When wine is mentioned in the Bible it is referring to the juice of the grape, not the condition of the juice. We call the

INSPIRATIONS THE MAN EVERY WOMAN DREAMS OF AND THE WOMAN EVERY MAN DREAMS OF!
Titus 2:1-8 2 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. 3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. 6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. 7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, 8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

Wow! What a challenge! Dont you wish that all men were like verse two? Can you imagine what life would be like if our men were all sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience? Thats every womans dream come true.

I am sure that every man looks at verses three through five and dreams of what it would be like to live with a woman who fits that description. If our men and women exhibited these qualities, then our children would be sober minded and life would be so much more fun. No man or woman will ever be perfect when it comes to these qualities, but we should strive for them, because Christ saved us and made us free from sin so we could live this way. He has given us the power to do these things. All we need to do is get a single mind about it (a double man is unstable in all his ways, James 1:8) and ask God to give us wisdom to walk this way. Now ladies, let me tell you, it takes much seeking and learning to live this way. After you have learned the truth, then it takes patience and love to be faithful to it. As a matter of fact, you cannot be this kind of a woman without learning how to love, for only love will walk these paths. You notice that Paul used the word likewise. That word is used 107 times in the Scriptures and what it means is that God is responding to the woman the very same way He did to man. He just gave instructions that fit our responsibilities and duties. A man must have these qualities to be a good man and the 4

They borrowed a bed to lay His head When Christ the Lord came down; They borrowed the ass in the mountain pass For Him to ride to town; But the crown that He wore And the cross that He bore Were His own-The cross was His own. He borrowed the bread when the crowd He fed On the grassy mountain side; He borrowed the dish of broken fish With which He satisfied; But the crown that He wore And the cross that He bore Were His own-The cross was His own. He borrowed a ship in which to sit To teach the multitude; He borrowed the nest in which to rest, He had never a home so rude; But the crown that He wore And the cross that He bore Were His own--The cross was His own. He borrowed a room on His way to the tomb The Passover Lamb to eat; They borrowed a cave for Him a grave They borrowed a winding sheet; But the crown that He wore And the cross that He bore Were His own-The cross was His own. The thorns on His head were worn in my stead; For me, the Saviour died; For guilt of my sin the nails drove in When Him they crucified. Though the crown that He wore And the cross that He bore Were His own, They rightly were mine. ----Author Unknown.

THE CROSS WAS HIS OWN

This book was written in 1947. It might could be found in used books but is not available in print. Roy L. Laurin wrote many books and we really do not know anything about him, but this book was tremendous. This is an excerpt from the back of the book.

The Cross is much more than a fact of yesterday; it is a factor for today. It is of no consequence that anyone should consider the Cross in the foregoing manner unless he is willing to remember tomorrow what is considered today. We must be ready to take yesterdays Christ of the Cross into todays crisis in the world. In doing this we must remember the stigma of the Cross and the hostility it has always received. The historic Cross of Christ was fashioned by Caesar. Following Caesar it was the Cross versus the crucifix. This is the false symbol of Christianity. The true symbols of our faith are an empty cross and an empty tomb. The difference between the Cross and the crucifix is that one is empty, the other bears a corpse. Christ is not dead therefore we have an empty cross and empty tomb. The crucifix of Catholicism is the symbol of an unfinished work; a work that must be finished by the mass of the church. This is both false and superfluous for Jesus Christ finished the work of redemption and abolished both priesthood and sacrifice. Furthermore, He was buried and the body of death forever put out of sight and with it all our sins. It is for this reason that the crucifix is an enemy of the Cross. Then came the cross and the crescent of Islam with its false religion; after this the cross and the crowns of imperialism with their deified states. After these in modern times we have had the cross and the fasces; then the cross and the swastika, or the crooked cross. Continuing their succession of hostility there is the cross and the hammer and sickle of Communism with its atheism. The Cross ultimately conquers all its enemies. It will for us too. God gave the Cross for our crises. We face the crisis of temptation, sorrow, discontent and sickness. Every crisis has a common cause. Every problem man faces, whether it is poverty or war, is traceable to sin. The Cross was meant to conquer sin. When Jesus came into the world nineteen and a half centuries ago He was faced with the worlds great problems. They were very much like our own today. Jerusalem was filled with the poor. It had its slums. There was unemployment, disease and crime. Jesus, who was more socially minded and social-conscious than any other being did not build schools, parliaments, clinics, hospitals; pass laws or institute reforms. He did a more fundamental and basic thing. He dealt with sin by means of His Cross. It is by the Cross that we can meet and master our personal problems. It is in the Cross that lies the hope of the world for its problems.

THE CROSS FOR TODAY

TID BITS MONTHLY REPORT

Its back to school time for children and parents. We (Galilean Baptist Church) have five students in Crown Bible College in Powell, Tennessee, this year. We have been helping them get ready and praying for them because of the huge change that will take place in their lives when they leave home. You may have students going to college also and we must remember to pray for our children. They are our heritage. Gloria and I will be going to Newport, Tennessee, for the week of the 12th of August. We are meeting Kristi Guay and three of their children. They are the missionaries who lost their two children in a car wreck this year. It happened the same day their oldest son was getting married. Now two of their children will be in Crown College, leaving only three children at home. Kristi has come to the states with her sons Joshua and Micha. Joshua is going to Crown College and we felt we should meet them there and minister to their lives since we could not go to Thailand. Marah is starting her second year at Crown College and is already in the States. Just a few months ago they had eight children at home and this is a great change for their lives. All of the children work with them in their ministry and that means they are missing workers in their work. God has been so gracious to Richard and Kristi through all of this, but still there is much repair needed for all the hurts that must be healed. We would like to thank you again for responding to their needs. They have been able to buy the two vehicles they needed to do ministry and they are building on to their church, which was much needed. They thank you for your love toward their lives. Gloria and I ask for your prayers for our lives. God always ask us to go further than we are prepared to go because that is where faith begins. Its a lot like walking on the water. You must keep your eyes upon Jesus or you will sink. It really does feel good to exercise faith, but as with Peter, it is scary, so we appreciate your prayers as again we put our faith to the test. This has been a hard month because of the death of a family member, Jim Yoakum, and the death of a former church member, Eva Ward. We are never ready to give up loved ones, but while we grieve, God rejoices, because now they are with Him. Pray that God will use Tid Bits of Wisdom to do great works in the hearts of the lost and the hearts of His dear sheep. Thanks to everyone who shares with us to make this paper possible. We love you and thank God for you. Letters: Our gift is in memory of a dear friend, Jim Yoakum. G.D. P. DeSoto, TX. Thank you so much for the Tid Bits of Wisdom. May God bless you all for all the hard work you do to get this out. L. C.. Gainesville, TX. Tid Bits of Wisdom is a non-profit work and operates through the Wonderful Word Publishers, whose founders where Bro. Dick and Mrs. Rose Cimino. The Tid Bits of Wisdom is published by Bro. Those who know us and have watched the way God has met our needs, knows that it was God and not us. Bro. Roloff use to say that he wanted to live his life in such a way that no one could accuse him of doing it!!! We started our walk of faith in the early 70s and God still answers our prayers. Last Friday, Gloria was asked to play for a funeral. She really did not have time to do so, but she felt that God said, Do it!, so she did. She was doing it for a friend and did not expect to be paid for it. This week God spoke to her heart about buying something for someone who had a need. She didnt feel she had the money to do it, but did it anyway. The person with her said, Thats a lot of money, are you sure you have the money? Gloria said, No, Im not sure I have the money, but I am sure that God said do it. She spent $75.05 on this person and when she arrived home there was a check that had come in the mail for $75 for playing for the funeral. It cost her 5 cents to do a good deed. Had she not been listening to the Holy Spirit the first time, there would have been no money the second time. All these people who have been used to mold our lives got their wisdom from the Scriptures and could say as Paul did, Follow me. When you find men of God that have proved Scripture by their lives, then learn from them and be an example to others. Had these people not sought to know God, they would not have had anything to share with us. What do you know about God and with whom do you share it? We are indebted to the people who touch our lives daily. We thank God for the body of Christ.

juice of the grape, grape juice. We call any juice that is intoxicating, wine. What Paul is saying here is to be balanced in the things we enjoy. Bro. Roloff helped me when I was struggling with drinking far too many Dr.Peppers. He said Mrs. Gloria, if you can discipline what you put in your mouth, you will have your whole life in balance. I believe he was right. When I eat or drink that which I know will aid my body and not hinder my body; and I tell my body what to do instead of my body telling me what to do, I seem to have my whole life in balance. If you just follow the crowd or eat to get your moneys worth (all you can eat), then more than likely you are wasteful with your time and money. What Paul is saying is, Enjoy refreshing things, but do not over indulge yourself till you come to the place that you look like a glutton. This is Glorias paraphrase. A person out of balance is not a person of peace are contentment. When you are at peace and you or contented, then you are ready to teach the younger women how to serve. Teachers of good things! We teach what we live far better than we teach what we say. The Scripture says,
Phil 4:8-9 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

I hear, Well, that is just the way I am and I cant help it. Sorry, youre wrong! If you are really a born again believer, you have the power and the command to live like Christ. I cant is a lie of Satan. We are not to believe it. I cant is a term that stirs my insides. My husband, Jerry, picked me up for our first date in a pickup truck that had a broken handle on the passengers side. As he opened the door for me, he told me that I couldnt open the door from the inside and I would have to wait for him to open the door from the outside when we arrived at our location. When he came over to open my door, I had already opened it. I said to him, You can open it from the inside. When he told me it couldnt be done, I had to try to do it, because I dont believe that what needs to be done cannot be done. Now with man, there are times that things cannot be done, but with God, that is not true! I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me! Did you get that? WE CAN DO IT and every time we do, we gain strength because of what we did. Oh, if only I could convince you that there is no excuse for falling short of what God tells us to be. If we fall short, it is because we have not desired it enough to wait upon the Lord and believe that He will do the work through us. Please, by faith, put Gods Word to the test. The just shall live by faith (Hab.2:4). Without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb. 11:6). I dont have the time or the space to write down all the blessings I have seen and received when I have put faith to the test, but I tell you, it is the only way to live an abundant life. If youre satisfied with the humdrum of the life of the flesh, dont worry about it. But, if you want the adventure of a life time, step out on faith and watch God at work. The reason we are so slow to share Christ with others, is because we know so little about Him. A life of faith would change that.

This is it! Paul said they had learned (teaching), they had seen (actions) and now they were to do what Paul had been an example of. Every woman needs these verses on her refrigerator door so she can be reminded daily of how to respond to life. If it is not true, dont believe it. If it is not honest, dont do it. If it is not just, forget about it. If it is not pure, its not godly. If it is not lovely, it is not profitable. If it will not bring a good report to your life, depart from it. What are we looking for? We are looking for virtue and praise. My husband has the gift of teaching and he reminds everyone that we are all teachers. We are either teachers of good things or teachers of evil things. Our walk talks and every step we take we teach someone something. Are you a Christian? Are you living and taking advantage of these virtues that Paul has taught us? If not, why not? Did you just become a Christian to escape the judgment? Didnt you expect God to change your life. Are you yielding to the Holy Spirit when He attempts to show you a better way of life, or do you grieve the Holy Spirit by remaining in your old ways of the flesh. You were saved so you could do righteous works, not so you could keep on doing unrighteous work through your flesh. As Christians, we are free from the bondage of sin. We are free to do that which is right and righteous. If we continue to do that which is unrighteous, we will give an account to God for not walking in the Spirit. Often,

Faith Is The Victory

Encamped along the hills of light, Ye Christian soldiers, rise. And press the battle ere the night Shall veil the glowing skies. Against the foe in vales below Let all our strength be hurled. Faith is the victory, we know, That overcomes the world. Refrain Faith is the victory! Faith is the victory! O glorious victory, that overcomes the world. His banner over us is love, Our sword the Word of God. We tread the road the saints above With shouts of triumph trod. By faith, they like a whirlwinds breath, Swept on oer every field. The faith by which they conquered death Is still our shining shield.

Gal 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. KJV
