Gutierrez was batting .267 (15x60) with 8 runs scored, 4 doubles, 5 home runs (3 leadoff HR) and 11 RBI in 18 games (15 GS in CF) this
season for Seattle. This is the 6th trip to the DL for Gutierrez since the start of the 2011 season.
OF NOTE: INF Carlos Triunfel has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games, batting .360 (18x50) with 9 runs scored, 3 doubles, 3 RBI, 1 walk
and 1 stolen base. INF Ty Kelly has hit safely in 26 of 38 games (w/AB) with 11 multi-hit games since being acquired, while reaching base
safely via a hit or walk in 35 games. Since July 2, he is batting .310 (44x142) with 25 runs scored, 6 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 12 RBI,
37 walks and 2 stolen bases in 39 game. INF Nate Tenbrink is batting .340 (17x50) with 5 runs scored, 5 doubles, 2 home runs, 6 RBI and
4 walks in 11 games in August. RHP Taijuan Walker tossed 14.0 scoreless innings over his first 3 AAA starts, before allowing a solo home
run in the 5th inning on July 7 at Salt Lake. Overall he is 3-3 with a 4.27 ERA (22 ER, 46.1 IP) in 9 starts with Tacoma.
Todays probable starter: LH James Paxton (7-10, 4.25) vs. Colorado Springs
RECAP: Despite being limited to only 2 hits, Jackson defeated Montgomery 2-1 on Friday night. The Generals scored the go-ahead run on
a fielding error in the 8th. The win marked the 7th straight home win for the Generals, while matching a season-high 4-game win streak. CF
Leon Landry (1x2, R, RBI, BB) recored the Generals first run with a RBI single in the 2nd inning and scored the winning run in the 8th. 1B
Ji-Man Choi (1x3, R, BB) reorded the teams only other hit. Starter Roenis Elias (7.0,8,1,1,1,6) limited the Biscuits to only 1 run while
striking out 6 in a no decision. RH Stephen Kohlscheen (1.0,0,0,0,1,1) tossed a scoreless 7th inning to pick up his 6th win of the season,
while RH Dominic Leone (1.0,0,0,0,0,1) tossed a 1-2-3 9th inning to earn his 3rd save with Jackson.
OF NOTE: INF Chris Taylor is batting .300 (18x60) with 12 runs scored, 1 double, 1 triple, 3 RBI, 6 walks and 4 stolen bases in 15 games
in August. After allowing 5 runs over his first 6 appearances of the season, RH Carson Smith has allowed only 5 earned runs over his last
33 relief appearances. During this stretch he is 0-1 with 8 saves and a 1.16 ERA (5 ER, 38.2 IP). Since April 22, Smith has lowered his
ERA from 8.44 to 2.05. Smith has struck out at least 1 batter in 34 of 39 games (62 strikeouts). LH Kyle Hunter has held oppoents
scoreless in 25 of 30 appearances this season. Overall he is 3-0 with 1 save and a 1.07 ERA (6 ER, 50.2 IP). He has limited opponents to
a .219 (41x187), while walking 12 and striking out 36. RH Stephen Kohlscheen has allowed only 2 earned runs over his last 24.0 innings
(0.75 ERA), including holding opponents scoreless over the last 6.0 innings in relief. During this 14-game stretch (since June 26), he is 4-0
while lowering his season ERA from 3.60 to 2.44.

RECAP: The Mavericks scored 6 runs in the top of the 7th inning to take a 11-6 lead, but it wasnt
enough as Lancaster scored 8 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to defeat High Desert 14-11 on
Friday night. All 9 players in the Mavericks starting lineup recorded at least 1 hit, including multi-hit
games by CF Jamal Austin (2x4, 3 R, BB, SB), RF Kevin Rivers (2x5, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI), 3B Patrick
Kivlehan (2x4, R, 2B, 3 RBI, BB), C Michael Dowd (2x5, R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI) and LF Patrick Brady
(2x5, R, SB). DH Guillermo Pimentel hit a home run in his first game back from the DL with a 2run, 2-out blast in the 7th inning. Starter Matt Anderson (2.2,3,6,6,4,3) allowed 6 runs on 3 hits in
2.2 innings, but didnt not figure into the decision. LH Bobby Shore (3.1,1,0,0,1,2) held the
JetHawks scoreless over 3.1 innings in relief, while LH Jeremy Dobbs (1.1,8,7,7,0,1,HR) and RH
Andrew Kittredge (0.2,1,1,1,1,0) combined to allow 8 runs over 2.0 innings. Dobbs recorded his
1st loss of the season, allowing 7 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning.
OF NOTE: INF Patrick Kivlehan has hit safely in the last 20 games, batting .413 (33x80) with 21
runs scored, 7 doubles, 6 home runs, 26 RBI, 8 walks and 3 stolen bases. His 20-game hit streak is
currently the longest active streak in the California League, while T2nd-longest in the league this
season. It is the 2nd longest streak by a Mavericks player this season (21-INF Ji-Man Choi, 4/275/22 & 18-INF Anthony Phillips, 4/11-5/3). Kivlehan has recorded 26 RBI in 14 games in August,
which currently leads all minor league players in the month of August. INF OF Jamal Austin has hit
safely in 14 of his last 17 games, batting .403 (29x72) with 21 runs scored, 2 double, 1 triple, 6 RBI,
7 walks and 8 stolen bases. He has hit safely in 29 of his last 36 games, batting .370 (54x146) with
37 runs scored, 6 doubles, 5 triples, 22 RBI, 14 walks and 12 stolen bases. OF Kevin Rivers has
hit safely in 17 of his last 19 games, batting .400 (32x80) with 16 runs scored, 9 doubles, 1 triple, 5
home runs, 22 RBI and 7 walks. Since July 14, Rivers is batting .381 (43x113) with 21 runs scored,
13 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs, 26 RBI and 10 walks in 28 games. Dating back to July 22 with
Clinton, INF Ketel Marte has hit safely in 19 of his last 22 games with an at-bat, batting .427
(41x96) with 15 runs scored, 5 doubles, 2 triples, 10 RBI, 5 walks and 5 stolen bases.

KIVLEHAN NAMED CALIFORNIA PLAYER OF THE WEEK: 3B Patrick Kivlehan was named
California Player of the Week, August 5-11. Kivlehan hit safely in all 6 games he appeared during
the week, batting .520 (13x25) with 8 runs scored, 6 extra-base hits (3-2B, 3-HR), 16 RBI and 3 walks. He drove in 11 of his 16 RBI in
back-to-back games, Aug. 8-9. His 16 RBI led all MiL players during the week.
6 PACK: OF Nate Melendres (6x8, 5 R, 2B, 2 RBI) went 6-for-8 with 5 runs scored 2 doubles and 2 RBI on Aug. 9 vs. Lancaster. He is
one of only 8 minor league players to record at 6 hits in a game this season, includuing 3 Mariners farmhands, joining Rainiers outfielders
Abraham Almonte (6x6, 4 R, 2 RBI, BB 5/29/13 at Colorado Springs) in the PCL and Carlos Peguero (6x7, 2 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI
7/26/13 at Reno) in the PCL, Jose Lopez in the Mexican League (6x6, 3 R, 2 RBI 7/28/13 vs. Laguna) Alan Sanchez of Oaxaca in the
Mexican League (6x8, 5 R, 2 RBI, BB - 5/9/13 vs. Carmen), Moises Sierra with Buffalo in the International League (6x6, 5 R, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI
- 4/18/13 at Syracuse), Alfredo Despaigne with Campeche in the Mexican League (6x6, 4 R, HR, RBI - 7/03/2013 at Saltillo) and Willy
Garcia with Bradenton in the Florida State League (6x6, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI at St. Lucie - 6/24/2013). Almonte is the first PCL player to record 6
hits in a game since Bryan Anderson went 6-for-6 against Tucson on May 24, 2012.
30/30: The Mavericks recorded 30 hits and scored 30 runs en route to a 30-8 win over Lancaster on August 9. The Mavericks recorded at
scored 10 runs in the first and 2nd innings, while recording at least 2 hits in 4 additional innings. The 30 run fell short of the California
League record for most runs by one team in a game, as Fresno scored 34 against Ventura on May 23, 1947. The highest scoring game in
Cal League history took place at Stater Bros. Stadium on June 28, 2009, with Lake Elsinore defeating High Desert 33-18.
Since 2005, the Mavericks are the 6th minor league team to score at least 25 runs and record at least 30 hits in a game. The Mavericks
join the Tacoma Rainiers in the PCL (6/19/13 at Colorado Springs, 25 runs, 30 hits), the Visalia Rawhide in the California League (5/15/12
at High Desert, 26 runs, 31 hits), Lake Elsinore in the California League (6/28/09 at High Desert, 33 runs, 32 hits), Vaqueros Laguna in
the Mexican League (7/5/08 at Pericos de Puebla, 30 runs, 30 hits) and Diablos Rojos del Mexico in the Mexican League (4/3/07 vs. Potros
de Tijuana, 26 runs, 31 hits) as the only minor league teams to accomplish this feat in the last 8 seasons.

RECAP: The LumberKings scored 6 runs in the bottom 6th inning as Clinton defeated Quad Cities 6-1 on Friday night. Starter David
Holman (7.2,6,1,1,1,6) allowed a run in the 2nd inning, but held the River Bandits scoreless over the next 5.2 inning to earn his 3rd win of
the season. RH Oliver Garcia (1.1,0,0,0,2,1) tossed 1.1 scoreles innings in relief to secure the victory. 2B Tim Lopes (2x3, R, 2B, RBI,
BB) led the team with 2 hits, while LF Dario Pizzano (1x3, R, 2B, RBI, BB), C Tyler Marlette (1x3, R, RBI, BB), 1B Taylor Ard (1x4, RBI),
CF Alfredo Morales (1x4 RBI) and RF Gabriel Guerrero (1x3, R, 2B) each recorded 1 of the LumberKings 7 hits.
OF NOTE: OF Dario Pizzano is batting .385 (20x52) with 11 runs scored, 5 doubles, 3 triples, 1 home run, 10 RBI, 5 walks and 1 stolen
base in 13 games in the month of August. C Tyler Marlette has hit safely in his last 14 games with 6 multi-hit contests, batting .400 (22x55)
with 9 runs scored, 5 doubles, 4 RBI, 7 walks and 2 stolen bases. INF D.J. Peterson has hit safely in 9 of his last 13 games, batting .340
(17x50) with 9 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs, 9 RBI, 3 walks and 1 stolen base. Tim Lopes has hit safely in 15 of his last
19 games, batting .353 (24x68) with 12 runs scored, 8 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run, 14 RBI, 6 walks and 3 stolen bases. He also hit .338
(27x80) with 8 runs scored, 5 doubles, 11 RBI, 4 walks and 4 stolen base in 22 games in July. LH Tyler Pike is 6-1 with a 2.39 ERA (18
ER, 78.1 IP) in his last 14 starts. LH Scott DeCecco is 4-1 with a 3.18 ERA (16 ER, 45.1 IP) in last 7 starts. Overall this season he is 9-7
with a 4.49 ERA (59 ER, 128.1 IP) in 23 starts this season.
PETERSON NAMED MIDWEST LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: INF D.J. Peterson was name Midwest League Player of the Week,
August 5-11. Peterson hit safely in 6 of 7 games during the, batting .429 (12x28) with 7 runs scored, 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 7 RBI, 3
walks and 1 stolen base. Entering last week, Peterson was batting .195 (8x41) with 6 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs and 6
RBI. Overall he is batting .303 (54x178) with 32 runs scored, 9 doubles, 1 triple, 12 home runs, 39 RBI and 18 walks in 46 games
combined between Everett and Clinton. Despite only appearing in 46 games, Peterson currently ranks T9th in the Mariners organization
with 12 home runs.

RECAP: The AquaSox out-hit the Emeralds 5-4, but it wasnt enough as Everett lost to Eugene 1-5 on Friday night. LF James Zamarripa
(2x4) led the team with 2 hits, while SS Jack Reinheimer (1x4, R, SB), C Carlton Tanabe (1x3) and 1B Reggie Lawson (1x4, RBI) each
recorded 1 of the teams 5 hits. Starter Thyago Vieira (6.0,2,3,2,3,3) recorded his 5th loss of the season, allowing 3 runs (2 ER) on 2 hits
in 6.0 innings. RH Richard White (1.0,0,2,0,2,1) allowed 2 runs (0 ER) in the 7th inning, while RH Cameron Copping (2.0,2,0,0,1,2)
tossed a scoreless 8th and 9th inning.
OF NOTE: RH Lars Huijer has recorded a win in 5 of his last 7 starts, going 5-0 with a 2.29 ERA (5 ER, 35.0 ER). He allowed 3 runs in the
bottom of the 1st inning on Aug. 12 at Salem-Keizer snapping a career-high 25.2 consecutive scoreless inning over 5 starts. Overall he is
7-1 with a 1.99 ERA (13 ER, 58.2 IP) in 11 games, 10 starts. He has limited opponents to a .199 average (41x206), while walking 18 and
striking out 48. OF Chantz Mack has recorded a hit in 15 of his last 17 games with 6 multi-hit outings, batting .386 (22x57) with 8 runs
scored, 8 doubles, 6 RBI, 7 walks and 1 stolen base. INF Justin Seager recorded his 14th multi-hit game of the season and his 3rd in his
last 4 games. He is batting .500 (9x18) with 3 runs scored, 2 doubles, 5 RBI and 3 walks. RH Emilio Pagen made his season debut with
the AquaSox on Aug. 15 at Vancouver, allowing 2 hits and striking out 2 in a scoreless 9th inning. Prior to his promotion to Everett, Pagan
tossed 20.1 scoreless innings, while walking 5 and striking out 27 with Pulaski to start the season. Overall he went 1-0 with 12 saves in 15
relief appearances with the Mariners.
TOPPS NORTHWEST LEAGUE TOPPS PLAYER OF THE MONTH: RHP Lars Huijer was named TOPPS Northwest League Player of
the Month for July. Huijer (19) of Hoofddorp, Netherlands, went 5-1 with a 0.82 ERA for the Everett AquaSox over 6 games, 5 starts in July.
He tossed 33.0 innings and led the Northwest League in wins, ERA, WHIP (0.70) and average against (.125). Huijer ended July with a 23.0
inning scoreless streak, allowing just 1 hit in each of his last 2 starts, which lasted 7.0 and 8.0 innings, respectively. The Seattle Mariners
signed him as a non-drafted free agent in June 2011.
