On motion presented by Councilor Oscar M. Ibay, duly seconded, the following City Ordinance was enacted: CITY ORDINANCE NO. 99-123 Authors: Councilors A.L. Cristal-Tenorio, F.T. Eusebio, M.L. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY ORDINANCE NO. 96-277 SO AS TO DECLARE THE PARCEL OF LAND KNOWN AS MERALCO ROCKWELL COMPOUND LOCATED AT BARANGAY POBLACION, MAKATI CITY NOT ONLY AS COMMERCIAL SITE BUT ALSO AS INSTITUTIONAL UNDER THE CLASSIFICATION OF SPECIAL USE, SUBJECT TO ALL LEGAL AND EXISTING RULES AND REGULATIONS.

WHEREAS, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Makati, on 19 November 1996, enacted City Ordinance No. 96-277 reclassifying the Meralco Rockwell Compound, situated at Barangay Poblacion, Makati City, Metro Manila, and more particularly described as Lot 1, Block 1, PCN-00-000609, as commercial site; WHEREAS, it has been determined that the site is also viable for institutional use as exemplified by the relocation at the site of the Ateneo de Manila University, Makati Campus. The added classification of the site as institutional shall complement its present commercial use; WHEREAS, the Sangguniang Panlungsod is empowered to reclassify such parcel of land as provided for under Section 458 (2) (viii) of Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, AS IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Makati, Metro Manila, in session assembled, that: Section 1. City Ordinance No. 96-277 is hereby amended and declared that the parcel of land known as the MERALCO Rockwell Compound situated at Barangay Poblacion, Makati City, Metro Manila, as commercial institutional site under the classification of special use, subject to all legal and existing rules and regulations. Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval. ENACTED BY THE SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD OF MAKATI, METRO MANILA, in its regular session held on November 09, 1999.
