With reference to Chapter 1 till Chapter 5 of Black Beauty, arrange and number the events in the correct sequence. The first event of each chapter has been done for you. Chapter 1 - My Early Home At the age of four, Beauty is sold to Squire Gordon. Beauty is broken in and trained to the use of bit, bridle, saddle, horseshoe and blinkers. Before Beauty is taken away, Duchess reminds Beauty to always behave well. Beauty describes his earliest memory at a pleasant meadow with a pond of clear water. He has a kind master called Farmer Grey. As part of his training, Beauty is sent to a neighbour's farm near a railway track for two weeks. It is to expose Beauty to the sounds he might hear when working in the future. Beauty which has a good breeding lives happily with his mother, Duchess. Duchess often trains and advises Beauty to behave as a well-bred horse.

Chapter 2 - Birtwick Park Mrs. Gordon likes Beauty because he has a beautiful black coat. Therefore, she names him "Black Beauty". Soon after that, the Gordons' have to move to a warmer place because of Mrs. Gordon's poor health. Merrylegs is given to Mr. Bloomfield while Ginger and Beauty are sold to another farm. One night, a fire breaks out in the Gordon's stable. James saves Beauty and the others. Later, James is hired to be a coachman for another master. Joe Green then replaces James to be the stable boy. In May, Beauty is sent to Birtwick Park. Squire Gordon's coachman, John, puts Beauty into a stable. Beauty meets other horses, Merrylegs and Ginger. Another night at the Gordon's residence, Mrs. Gordon who is seriously ill needs immediate treatment. Beauty speeds Dr. White from the town back to the Gordon's residence to treat Mrs. Gordon. Ginger and Beauty work in a team as carriage horses. Beauty, Ginger and Merrylegs become good friends.

Chapter 3 - Earlshall Park In the spring, Rueben Smith replaces Mr. York to be in charge of the stables. One day in the town, Beauty is discovered to have a loose nail in his front horseshoe. Rueben Smith ignores the loose nail and believes that Beauty can still get home safely. It takes Beauty a long time to recover after the accident. Not long after that, Beauty is sold to become a work horse. He is rented to different people. Beauty has to work hard like a steam engine. John takes Beauty and Ginger to the Earlshall Park. Mr. York is their new coachman. The new mistress insists that the horses must wear check reins to be smart looking.

Later, Beauty is up for sale again and again until one day, he is sold at a horse fair. His new master, Jerry, rides him to London. He is placed in a comfortable stable with plenty of dry straw. Unfortunately, Beauty's front horseshoe slips off . The stones hurt his shoeless hoof. He stumbles and Rueben Smith falls to the ground. Beauty manages to get u but Rueben Smith is dead. Day by day, the check reins are shortened and tightened. Ginger's rein snaps and she is taken away. Max then becomes Beauty's carriage partner. Beauty suffers the pain for four months. His neck and chest are in pain; his mouth and tongue are always sore.

Chapter 4 - A London Cab Horse Beauty likes his stall at home because he is kept clean from time to time with plenty of food and fresh water. Like Captain, he is also allowed one full day of rest weekly. Both of them form a good friendship. One day, Beauty meets his old friend, Ginger. Ginger who is old and weak shares her sorrow and pain. She wishes to be dead so that she will no need to suffer. Beauty loves his new place very much. His master, Jerry, names him Jack and assigns him to pull a cab together with a proud old horse, Captain. Furthermore, Beauty is also taught about kindness towards animals from a kind gentleman who stands up against animal cruelty. At first, Beauty is disturbed by the busy lifestyle of London. Jerry manages to comfort Beauty and he finally adapts himself in the big city. A few days later, Beauty sees a cart with a dead horse in it. Beauty hopes that it is Ginger so that her troubles will be over. Deep in his heart, Beauty hopes that all men will be caring to reduce horses' suffering.

Chapter 5 - The Final Sale The ladies are satisfied with Beauty as he can ride well and safely. They decide to keep him and Beauty is called by his old name, Black Beauty. Soon after that, Farmer Thoroughgood sells Beauty to some ladies who need a horse. Beauty finally settles into a long, happy life. After three years of pulling a cab, Beauty is no longer strong enough to work for Jerry. Beauty is up for sale again and finally, Farmer Thoroughgood who believes that he can rehabilitate Beauty in heir meadow buys Beauty. The ladies provide a comfortable stable for Beauty and soon, his new groom visits him. It is a surprise to meet the groom, Joe the stable boy from Squire Gordon's place again.
