On December 10 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, SOCMA hosted its 91st Annual Dinner, where hundreds of chemical industry leaders and VIP customers came together to celebrate the past years successes and to plan ahead for the New Year. During the dinner, we honored Baker Hughes, Performance Improvement Award recipient in three categories Gold, Silver and Bronze; Strem Chemicals Gold and Educational Outreach awards winner; Dixie Chemical Company Silver and Sustainability awardees; and BASF Educational Outreach award winner. We also recognized the winners of 16 Silver and 12 Bronze awards. Congratulations to all award winners and thank you to those that applied. ChemStewards looks forward to another year of outstanding Performance Improvement Awards applicants in 2013.

Save the Date! National Chemical Safety Symposium Hosted by SOCMAs ChemStewards Whats New in process and occupational safety? May 22, 2013 Houston Marriott West Loop by the Galleria Houston, TX Registration coming soon! Cost: SOCMA members: $49 per person Non-members: $98 per person SOCMAs ChemStewards Program is pleased to announce the 2013 National Chemical Safety Symposium to be held in Houston, Texas on May 22nd. National and local authorities on Process and Occupational Safety will be presenting the latest trends and methodologies used in the industry today to create a safe and secure manufacturing environment. Dr. M. Sam Mannan, Chemical Engineering Department Regents Professor, Holder of the T. Michael O'Connor I Chair and Director of the Mary K. OConnor Process Safety Center at Texas A&M University will be the keynote speaker. Also included on the agenda will be professionals from industry, government and academia. An expert industry panel will discuss new techniques designed to address plant safety. In addition, ChemStewards and ISO auditors will address best practices in the area of process and occupational safety. The primary topics to be covered will be process safety and occupational safety, by way of presentations, panels, networking, and Q&A discussions. Who should attend? Any individuals associated with the chemical manufacturing industry are encouraged to attend, particularly SOCMA members, EHS&S Staff and LEPCs. Questions?
