FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Ahmed Tigani, (718) 312-9105 July 29, 2012

NEW YORKTenants PAC Treasurer Michael McKee joined tenants from the Trinity House Tenants Association and other housing activists to endorse Helen Rosenthals campaign in the th crowded race to represent New York Citys 6 Council District. Citing her long record of advocacy on behalf of tenants and renters across the city, Tenants PACs endorsement comes as major news and builds on growing momentum for the Rosenthal campaign. Tenants PAC, a political action committee representing tenants and renters in New York State, has only endorsed a small handful of candidates in the 2013 election cycle. New York only thrives when tenants can afford to live and raise their families here, but too many are getting forced out. I worked on budgets under three Mayors - I know we have all the resources we need to create affordable housing if we stop massive tax giveaways to rich developers, said Helen Rosenthal, candidate for City Council in New Yorks 6th District. Im humbled and honored by the support of hardworking tenants across New York, and will fight every day to make their voices heard in City Hall as a member of the City Council. At Tenants PAC, we pick our battles and choose only candidates our supporters truly believe in, said Michael McKee, Treasurer of Tenants PAC. There was no doubt in our mind that Helen fit that description. Shes spent her entire career fighting for tenants rights and standing up to big developers and thats why were confident she will be an excellent Council Member. Helen has been a wonderful supporter of the tenants cause at Trinity House, said James Paul, CoChair of the Trinity House Tenants Association. Many politicians and public figures talk a lot about affordable housing and tenant needs, but when push comes to shove they do little about it. Helen has proven she is truly with the tenants and ready to act. She has been on our side all the way coming to our rallies, attending our meetings, giving encouragement and support. We are enormously grateful to her. We respect her for her honesty and integrity and commitm ent to affordable housing. Tenant PAC joins a growing movement in support of Helen Rosenthals campaign for City Council, which also includes: Former Councilwoman Ronnie Eldridge, Gloria Steinem, Senator Liz Krueger, Assemblywoman Deborah Glick, National Organization of Women-NYC, Labor Leader Ed Ott, Former NARAL Pro-Choice America President Kate Michelman, New Yorkers for Clean, Livable and Safe Streets, Cooperative Community Organization, District Council 9, Painters & Allied Trades, Amalgamated Transit Union Locals 1700 & 1179, and Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers Local 12.
