March 18th the Directory of the Association for Christian Literature met in Uberlandia to discuss and plan the future of our work. Three families .being ready to offer their services to ALPIC, the main topic was in regard to division of labors. Thomas Fife was appointed head of the editorial depart

heret Actually these cool days and nights x<jould seem wonderful after the t3^ical Illinois winter. But a day in the lower 60*s seems cold to us now. At night we sometimes wish that we had a fireplace or room heater# We must confess though that it is more pleasant fighting the "cold" than fighting the
dust like we xd.ll be doing in Goiania.
Spring has sprung for you, but fall has fell for us. Brrr, it gets cold
Your prayers and gifts havemade it possible for us to lay a foundation that is

Wonderful things are happening for the cause of Christ and his church all over Brazil. For example, I would like to tell you a little about some recent victories in central Goias that have been experienced by Dale McAfee. Dale is one of the missionaries working along the road between Brasilia and Belem. Ordinarily his range of ministry stretches almost 50G miles. Lately he has had to omit some of his regular trips to points furthest out because
of the illness of his newborn twins. After many prayers and visits to doctors
in Goiania it was deemed safe to take one of his long trips up north (they
last over a week)# He had received a letter stating that 12 were ready to make decisions for Christ. When he arrived at Shoe Creek, he preached and 19 people
made their commitment to Jesus Christ. Because of the witness of those who
were already Christians several families are convinced that they need something better than Spiritism. Others are ready to make a decision to be buried with our Lord in Christian baptism.
This next Thursday is a holiday. I'm going to Goiania hy car to meet with Charles and Tom (our co-workers) to discuss the upcoming directory meeting. Also, my car has to be licensed for the coming year. Our next directory meeting of APLIC is June 5th, another holiday, in Goiania. We have been preparing some
special material to be presented at this meeting#

The directors of the Association for Christian Literature met June 5th
in Goiania and voted unanimously to recommend to the general assemb]ly that the print shop and offices be moved to Belo Horizonte, KS.nas Gerais* Upon approval of said decision by the general assembly, we will be moving the shop at a date to be determined at our next directory meeting, August 15
It is difficult to list the reasons for movingone, two, three,...,
for the decision is based on a vast amount of cumulative factors. The
following are some of the factors that led to the decision to move. Cur present facilities are no longer adequate; expansion on the same location is not feasible* A move is necessary. Goiania does not provide
as good a market for the commercial use of our services as Belo (it is agreed by all the shop must be a financial asset). Belo has a commercial
artist and a CPA with distribution experience that want to work together
with APLIC in producing New Testament literature (these two fellows are part of an exodus movement of the non-instrumental brethren). In Belo w
can use our typesetting facilities commercially to meet the needs of the Bethany Fellowship Press. We can also farm out high quality offset
will be lower, since we will be closer to the sources of supplyi but because w will have to pay rent, it will seem higher. Increased volume of business should quickly recoupe this. We will be in a location that Td.ll enable us to serve the needs of missionaries more efficiently.

The move to Belo Horizonte is tabled until further notice due to a lack of general
support and agreement amongst the membership. Though we had the authorization of the directory to move the shop to Belo, it became apparent that the directory and
membership was not in favor of the move at the present time and circumstances.
For
this reason we have cancelled the move for further study and agreed to move back to
Goiania as soon as we can secure an apartment or house and terminate our present contract.-probably the first of December.
This in no way means that the future of APLIC is not bright. The limiting factor imposed on us by not moving to Belo at this time is a financial one. We will have to
have heavier subsidy in Goiania to operate at full capacity.
I think that Charles Kent, Thomas Fife and I (the three full time workers involved) have come to a good understanding of one another and how we are going to work together. We as yet have not developed the full confidence of the membership} but expect this to come as we domonstrate our ability to function even under conditions
that are less than ideal (Goiania as opposed to Belo).
The door is closed for APLIC to have any kind of dominance on the Bible school
literature market. We did not have what was needed to take advantage of the oppor-

is for people who are somewhat educated. The bulk of protestant Christianity falls in the near or completely illiterate class. I want to see us produce materials that can be used to help these people learn how to read and learn about Christ and his church. If we can produce the material geared to their level, it will be used. We cannot have an expanding witness that is strategic unless we have an increase in funds. We can have a witness to the masses for simple New Testament Christianity, but we cannot do so
without an increase in our own efforts and an increase in your prayerful financial support.
As one of our regular supporters I would like to ask you to pray with me that we might have the financial tools that we need to be strategic for Christ.
