Durable, High-Performance Aerial Cabling Solution Can Save on Installation Time and Expense
Product Description
DryBlock Figure 8 Cable
he DryBlock Figure 8 Loose Tube Fiber Optic Cable offers an attractive alternative for aerial cabling installations with demanding loading conditions. An integrated, extra-high-strength (EHS) stranded steel messenger offers strength and corrosion resistance that is superior to that of common utility-grade messengers. The Figure 8 Cable also helps save on time and money with rapid, one-step installation. To construct the DryBlock Figure 8 Cable, optical bers are placed within color-coded, gel-lled buffer tubes to protect the bers from environmental and mechanical forces. Next, the buffer tubes are stranded around a dielectric central member using the reverse oscillating lay (ROL) stranding method. Unlike other stranding techniques, ROL makes it easy to untwist the buffer tubes and gain fast, mid-span entry. DryBlock water-blocking material and dielectric strength elements are then applied to the cable core. Finally, a quarter-inch EHS stranded steel messenger and a durable polyethylene (PE) jacket are applied to complete the cable construction.

he DryBlock Figure 8 Cables integrated, EHS stranded steel messenger provides strength and corrosion resistance that surpass that offered by common utility-grade messengers. This cables loose tube construction also delivers excellent ber protection, and a UV and water-resistant PE outer jacket offers maximum cable protection from moisture and weathering. By eliminating the need to lash cable to a separately installed messenger, this cable design helps save time and money on deployment with fast, one-step installation using standard attachment hardware. The DryBlock Figure 8 Cable is designed for aerial installations with rigorous load conditions, including heavy wind and ice (for spans up to 500 feet (150 meters))*.
* Longer span lengths possible depending on climate, loading conditions, sag and clearance requirements.
