External Aim:
Mainly by bridging the gap between the bottom 15% of the University and the top 15% (Golden Key members) across all faculties at UCT.

Internal

(for GK members only)

Aim:

Maintaining academic achievement & performance of GK UCT members

Projects: External:
Mentoring Opportunities

Aim is to allow the GK members to give back to UCT and help increase academic awareness & development and help bridging this gap, by encouraging them to join mentoring programs across faculties. This would mean linking up especially with the Academic Development Programs and allowing members to facilitate: 2 Stress workshops for the year, one towards the end of each semester. 2 Study stills workshops, one towards the end of each semester.

Provisional Dates: 1st semester- Early March (one month before exams) 2nd Semester-Early October (one month before exams)

Will involve asking members to volunteer and relates to community development. This means we will have to email them about the idea and get feedback before we can actually approach faculties.

Things to do: Will have to approach, create a curriculum for these workshops which will be presented to Executive Committee upon the 1 st strategy plan for 2013.

Exclusion Awareness Campaigns & Academic Awareness Campaigns

Just for the kicks posters notifying students where to go when facing exclusion, how to appeal exclusion notices etc.. Probably in 2 nd semester sometime after vacation- sorry not much to say here, just thought of it now!

Internal:
Start A Vula Tab for GK Members [Launch Date- 2nd April 2013]

This site should be up and running after the 1 st vacation period of 2013. The aim of this tab is to allow GK members access to study materials across all faculties by allowing members to upload study notes, past papers (& answer booklets/ past papers solutions where applicable) according to faculty. Also it provides a chat room for members in same faculty and across faculties to connect and diversify.

Things to do: Get in touch with GK Webmaster during Holiday to start planning format of site.

Facilitate Internships for GK Members

Aim is to expose member to work experience and to their career choices as well as help them make corporate connections at an early stage. We hope to do this by linking members up with societies such as INVESTSOC & AIESEC. This helps us avoid too much work in running corporations.

Things to do:

Coordinate with corporate functions project manager to approach INVESTSOC & AIESEC by email during holiday, & will hopefully have a response on whether they are keen or not to partner up with GK members.

Career Fairs

This idea was brought up by fundraising portfolio under monthly but maybe join it under career fair week, found it interesting as it exposes GK members to corporations. just an idea.
