WESTERN CHRISTIAN MISSION

Western Christian Mission is engaged in evangelism in the fullest sense and meaning of
the word. That is, the proclamation of the

concern and care of doctors and nurses, it

became apparent that Eric was making splen did progress. He escaped all of the surgery

whole message of the New Testament. The objective is the planting of new congregations
wherever they are needed in this area of the west (and they are needed in many places);

and lengthy convalescence usually associated

with this disease. He is now fully recovered; and the only reminders we have of it are a

the strengthening of new or small congrega tions . This is being done directly through the efforts of Joe and Margaret Kaiser through the surveying of strategic sites in cooperation with others and the recruiting of men to enter these locations to plant congregations.
The Kaisers have been active in this work

rather large hospital bill, and a much greater appreciation of the power of the spirit of God in every area of our lives.
A Spirit of Power is in evidence in the

growth of the new Central Christian Church and in the growth of His kingdom throughout this area. Real growth has been seen in the number of believers in the congregation and
in the lives of these people. This to us is the

since 1953 w en they joined the E. Gilbert

Cays in the work of the King Edward Park

Church of Christ, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Following this, they assumed the leadership

of Rosscarrock Sunday school in Calgary,

Alberta continuing a building program already underway and leading in the establishment of a congregation of Christians. In 1962 the Kaisers responded to an "open door of opportunity" and moved to Missoula,
Montana to lead in the establishment of the

Central Christian Church in this, the leading city of western Montana.

SPIRIT OF POWER

real joy and goal of our endeavors, and is the Spirit of God working in power through His Word. As a result of this, the program of the congregation is growing, with a Bible study and prayer session at the center of the weeks activities. The congregation has completed the purchase of the building used since the work was begun under a lease-option to buy arrangement. They have pledged to pay the entire amount of purchase of the building. Brother Kaiser in cooperation with others
conducted a survey of the town of Libby, Mon tana in April of 1963. Brother Dan Brossman has responded to the call for someone to be

in our personal lives and in the lives of others. Our personal lives were influenced, our

building program. The program of Kootenai

Christian Service Camp in this area experi

enced a notable growth this year over previous years. This was acknowledged to be the result
of a number of new churches in the area, and

faith strengthened, our appreciation of the power of prayer deepened, our knowledge of love and true fellowship broadened and our knowledge of His power and love us increased this past winder (Jan.-Feb. 1964). Suddenly, following a minor fall at school, our oldest son, Eric (16 years) developed osteomyelitis in the right hip and had to be hospitalized immediately. Knowing how serious this di
sease can be, we immediately requested the

an overall increase in the spirit of evangelism.

Joe W. Kaiser was Dean of senior week, Dan

Brossman, Dean of junior week, Robert C. Larsson, camp manager. A number of young people responded to a call to preparation and
service and three were immersed into Christ.

A happy coincidence occurred in the first v;eel-: of November when Don Albert made a business trip to the coast and was here on the day of a called

Me v/ere able to discuss

and plan for the annual congregational meeting coning up this Lord'sDay.
Tlie follovdng v;eek Rebecca and I and the bo^'^s attended the Christian Education Convention in Seattle sponsored by the V/est Seattle Christian Church. V.-e always appreciate such an opportunity to "bone-up" on our teaching methods and. meet and greet brothers and sistei^in the Lord. On the last Sunday evening of the month wo had the largest crowd ever in

our little auditoruim.

At a "get acquaiiited" meeting between the Burnaby

congregation and an old established congregation in Vancouver we numbered

nearly ^0 in attendance. That congregation is aahing moves toward more fundamental Christianity and we felt it good to air some of the problems that trouble us in an, atmosphere of friendlines.s and concern. A tea followed that allowed us to visit and to becomo acquainted with one another.

"Let's do it again" v/as the response of many, especially those who wanted to give consideration to some of the points Raised and to ask questions.
Do mittens grow on- trees? On tv;o T-undays rcce-ptly wc had a mitten tree in our meeting house. And do you know that it blossomed with mittens. Tlie fruit was picked and sent to the De;vid Savage family to distribute as Christmas presents among the Indir.ns with v?hom they vfork on ITr.ncouver

Ever and ever there is the work about the property that must be done. \Jc have been making some repairs to the floor of the meeting house. The fruit trees arc nearly all pruned for tho coming scr.son nov;. At long last, v:c have gotten tho front lawn back down and seeded. A parking lot is being cleared and graveled. I suppose that tho coat of paint for tho church building will havo to wait until next sur>mor. V/c are now into tho
rainy season., . ,

For the past week I havo been working on reports and plans for the congregational meeting of the Burnaby Church, \!g have made some real progress in some areas. In others wo nocd to dig in a littlo harder and vdll do so for tho Kingdom's
