Fleischmanns Factoid
The Fleischmann family built their family compound on the outskirts of Griffin Corners in the 1880's. Picture a 19th Century version of the Kennedy Compound at Hyannis. There were five (one source says six) houses, and numerous outbuildings. Several riding stables. There was even a heated swimming pool--an amazing luxury for that era. Here is a view of that pool, and the bath house.
New Exhibit of Alfred Santos Works at Zoom Alfred Santos who worked prodigiously in Fleischmanns many years ago has new works on view at the Zoom gallery. The show which opened on August 22ne will be on view through September 17th . The Zoom gallery is open from 10am-5pm, Thursday through Sunday.

October 12th, Fleischmanns First will host a Pumpkin Festival fund raiser from 10- 4pm. Our pumpkin plants are growing nicely and we expect a large crop of carving and eating pumpkins as well as mini gourds. The patch will be open as a pick your own that Saturday; already harvested pumpkins will be available for sale at the Gazebo where pumpkin decorating activities will take place for children of all ages. Build your own scarecrows will be an highlight and we want to encourage all business owners and house owners on Main Street and Wagner Ave to build a scarecrow to place in their front yards and in front of their stores. Prizes will be awarded for the best scarecrow on Main Street and Wagner Avenue. The Committee is seeking donations of used jeans, flannel shirts, bandannas, hats, gloves and burlap. Bring your donations to either of the next two Fleischmanns First monthly meetings, September 7th and October 5th. The childrens party will once again feature exciting and creative activities. So get your creative juices flowing and plan your costumes.
