Positional Truth: Love Your Community

In recent sessions we have discussed how Jesus made it possible for us to approach the
throne of God with confidence (Heb 4:15-16). Even though we are not perfect we can come
to Him boldly without fear or guilt. Perfect love does not leave any room for fear, so as we
grow up in Gods perfect love for us, we will leave fear behind and move forward to spread
this love in our communities.

Hebrews 4:14-16
New International Version (NIV)
18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with
punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
Questions
1. Some of us have been so hurt that when we think about caring for other people, we
wonder, Why would I ever want to open my heart? Is it easy for you to love people?
We have all experienced hurt and rejection at some point in life. The natural reaction is fear.
Fear often keeps us locked away, like little kids hiding in a closet. We dont dare come out
and be a part of the family because the last time we tried, it was really painful.
2. Read 2 Tim 1:7. God has not given us fear but what three things has he given us?
Why do you think he would choose to give us these things in place of fear?
