com> Date: Mon, Aug 19, 2013 at 12:38 PM Subject: Documentation that Ms. Nickinson's article is false To: Shannon Nickinson PNJ Content Editor <snickinson@pensacol.gannett.com>, dschneider@pnj.com, ggraybiel@pnj.com, kevindoyle@pensacolanewsjournal.com Cc: Alistair McKenzie <amckenzie@mckenzielawfirm.com> PNJ Contect Owners, Mr. Schnieder called me today and asked that I provide proof that Ms. Nickinson made false statements in her "opinion" piece today. Ms. Nickinson wrote: "World of Beer was the place where former city Administrator Bill Reynolds met with former City Councilwoman Maren DeWeese to swap tales of political machinations at Pensacola City Hall." This statement is patently false in that: Reynolds and I did not meet at World of Beer. I was there for another reason with other parties before he arrived. Reynolds and I did not swap tales of political machinations at Pensacola City Hall. We said hello and as he was leaving he left me an envelope and said Happy Birthday. Machinations is defined as: 1. The act of plotting. 2. A crafty scheme or cunning design for the accomplishment of a sinister end. Nothing that occurred in this entire episode involved any plotting or crafty schemes with Mr. Reynolds or myself. Proof that has and was available before Ms. Nickinson made her libelous statements http://pensacolad3.blogspot.com/2013/07/and-envelope-please.html The envelope showing Reynolds intent to mail the information to Rick Outzen posted July 11 at 8:09 am http://pensacolad3.blogspot.com/2013/07/and-envelope-please.html My statement on the incident posted to my blog July 7, 2013 at 1:17 pm http://ricksblog.biz/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/City-of-Pensacola-Report.pdf Report of the SAO that states "These documents were not provided pursuant to any public records request and were not solicited by Ms. DeWeese. The documents provided to Ms. DeWeese were in an envelope and unredacted in any way."

I demand that the PNJ retract this column from all online content immediately with an explanation that the facts were misstated. Additionally, I demand that Ms. Nickinson post a retraction of her statements in the same column as the damaging statements she has made. I have made sufficient statements and provided sufficient proof that the encounter with Mr. Reynolds was by chance and your employee's libelous statements are irresponsible. If the PNJ makes the above noted corrections, we can consider this matter closed. Maren DeWeese
