zu Ergebnissen gefhrt, die von denjenigen der bisherigen Forschung betrchtlich

...nach 355 und nicht bereits am Anfang des 4. Jahrhunderts auf dem hchsten
Platz der auerhalb der Festungsmauern gelegenen rmisch-sptantiken Nekropole
ein Kultbau errichtet wurde, der in engem Zusammenhang mit der danebenliegenden Grabkammer Nr. III stand. Die Grabinhaber, bei den es sich um hoch angesehene Persnlichkeiten handelte, waren vermutlich gleichsam fr die Errichtung des
Baus verantwortlich. Der Altarraum des Kultbaus und die Grabkammer Nr. III
entwickelten sich zu einem heiligen Ort. Nach der Zerstrung des ersten Kultbaus
wurde darber in der Mitte oder in der zweiten Hlfte des 5. Jahrhunderts eine
grere Kirche errichtet. Leider bleibt ihr Aussehen unbekannt. Als sicher kann
allerdings gelten, dass sie die Tradition des heiligen Ortes fortgesetzt hat. Dieser
Bau drfte whrend des 6. Jahrhunderts bestanden haben; die Zeit seiner Zerstrung
bleibt unklar, aber man darf annehmen, dass er im 7. Jahrhundert keine Verwendung
mehr fand. Whrend dieser Zeit zieht sich das gesellschaftliche Leben aus Grnden
der wachsenden Unsicherheit des unbefestigten Territoriums infolge der Slawenund Awarenangriffe hinter die Festungsmauern zurck...
