DATE: 02.02.2012 SCHOOL: Doamna Stanca National High School LEVEL: Intermediate CLASS: VI A TIME: 50 NUMBER OF SS: 34 TEACHER OF ENGLISH: Andreica-Ogutcu Ligia UNIT OF LEARNING: 5 Books and Libraries TOPIC: The Library a magic place TYPE OF LESSON: Mixed type AIMS: to revise some knowledge related to the word library; to use their English vocabulary to solve the given crossword correctly; to name the type of books looking at their cover and title; to match some types of books to their description (topics); to read the given text correctly; to pick up the right meaning for the unknown words; to match some words to their definitions; to act out some dialogues about some different types of books; to maintain students high interest for the English class; to encourage the less motivated and less able students to take part in the activities. LANGUAGE FOCUS:

expressing their ideas freely; using their vocabulary properly in order to accomplish the given tasks. ASSUMED KNOWLEDGE: Ss. already dealt with some words from the book area; Ss. have already got accustomed to several books, mainly fairy tales, as they had the task to read a book during their summer holiday and to write down a reading handout about the plot, the characters and a short summary of the story. ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: My hope is that I will not have any kind of problem with my students. Yet, if Ss. dont understand some oral commands or the tasks, they will be translated into Romanian. ACTIVITY 1: CHECKING THE PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE Aims: - to review some words related to library; Timing: 5 Interaction: T-S, S-T Procedure: T. checks the homework; T. asks questions about different meanings of the words related to library. TEACHER Hello, everybody! How are you today? Are you in the good mood to start the English lesson? What was your homework for today? I listen to their homework and correct the possible mistakes. Ss. have the task to come in front and find the meanings of the words that was written on a flash card of the same colour as the word. Ss. stick each flash card below the word.

Please copy the words and their meanings in your notebooks. All these words should be learnt until the next English class which will be tomorrow.
