There is no substitute to hard work. This famous line by Thomas A. Edison was the bed-rock of my childhood.

. Growing up in an academics-oriented environment, I was left no stranger to the importance knowledge and hard workheld in the life of a successful person. My father, an engineer himself, instilled within me the spirit of problem-solving and a perseverant attitude, while my mother made me aware about the culture and values of our society. This not only helped me to consistently perform well in my academics, but also to participate in various extra-curricular activities in the fields of literature, culture and sports. Working diligently as always, I became a part of a number of successful teams over the years. Carrying the same attitude forward from school, I was able to gain admission into the four year bachelors program in Civil Engineering at IIT Roorkee. It was here that I got a true feel of the immense diversity and competitiveness in our world. Meeting people from different parts of the country broadened my thought horizon, while the intense competition from my peers always spurred me to perform at a higher level. The academically diverse curriculum allowed me to take up a number of non-core subjects in the fields of Economics, Business Management and Finance, which were the catalysts in generating my interest in the field of management. Events during the annual festivals also allowed me to connect and interact with people from various professions. It was however only during the third year of my stay in this institute that I got my first real taste of management, while working as the Manager Events of the departmental events held during COGNIZANCE, the annual technical festival of IIT Roorkee. During this time, I was responsible for creating, budgeting, detailing, financing and ensuring the proper execution of the various events by coordinating with my team members. The successful completion of the events and a positive feedback from the people involved gives me immense satisfaction even today. At the end of my third year, I was able to secure a month long internship at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited, located in Delhi. The experience not only helped me in enhancing my technical knowledge, but was also my first venture into the corporate world. As a trainee engineer, I studied various aspects of Metro Corridor construction and design during my numerous field visits, while at the corporate office, I wouldunderstand the planning and management procedures undertaken during the course of these projects.

Management starts from understanding oneself and then utilising ones resources for a final structured outcome. As rightly said by C.K. Prahalad in his book The fortune at the bottom of the pyramid that the future of India lies in the chaos of the unorganised sector and therefore learning the management nuances compounded along with technical knowledge will not only provide me with ample opportunity to grow but will also ensure that every project I undertake will result from an informative decision, holistic approach and robust foundation. Theres only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and thats your own self.( A, Huxley )Hence another important intake from this course will be to help me strengthen self behaviour as well understand behaviours of other individuals within the domains of organization and external environment. Through this rational approach , clear objectives and strong visualization blend I am affirmative about pursuing my career in financial sector and therefore the sole purpose of this SOP has been to portray and express my true individuality so that my passion to bring a drive of change and learning can be converted into reality.
