forth in the 2012 Republican National Platform, duly adopted by the MRP, which states, in part: Repealing Obamacare The Patient Protection and Affordable Care ActObamacarewas never really about healthcare, though its impact upon the nations health is disastrous. From its start, it was about power, the expansion of government control over one sixth of our economy, and resulted in an attack on our Constitution, by requiring that U.S. citizens purchase health insurance Congressional Republicans are committed to its repeal. [Pg 32] Our Prescription for American Healthcare: Improve Quality and Lower Costs Consumer choice is the most powerful factor in healthcare reform Putting the patient at the center of policy decisions will increase choice and reduce costs while ensuring that services provide what Americans actually want. [Pg 33] WHEREAS, it is the duty and responsibility of Michigan Legislators to develop laws which regulate both the Insurance and Healthcare Industries within Michigan, and administer Michigans government subsidized Medicaid benefits, at great expense to our taxpayers. WHEREAS, the Michigan Senate is currently considering numerous bills (HB 4714, SB 422, SB 459/460) pertaining to the reform of Michigans Medicaid program within the constraints of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) WHEREAS, only one of the bills being considered, SB 459, is based upon free-market principles targeted at improving quality and lowering costs of healthcare services to Michigans Medicaid recipients. This patientcentered reform would increase competition by providing patient choice in
healthcare policies and providers, and return heath care decisions to the patient and his/her doctor. THEREFORE, we instruct our Republican State Legislators and Governor to support the free-market patient-centered reforms contained in SB 459/460, introduced by Senator Pat Colbeck, and abandon the efforts to expand Medicaid eligibility in our state per the ACA (Obamacare). APPROVED, at a regular meeting of the Wayne-12th Republican Committee on August 12, 2013.
2nd Congressional District Republican Delegate Coalition Resolution Muskegon Republican County Committee Opposes Medicaid Expansion At its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday July 8, the Muskegon Republican County Committee adopted a resolution opposing any expansion of Medicaid under the Affordable CareAct (commonly called Obamacare). The resolution reads as follows: Those who favor federal control over the provision of medical services argue that the expansion will cost Michigan taxpayers little and will bring many federal dollars into the state. Said Bertsch. This is a bait and switch. Once the state starts this expanded program it will be near impossible to end it when the federal dollars dry up. We have to take a strong stand now. Bertsch said he particularly wanted Senator Goeff Hansen to know the position of the Republican voters in Muskegon County.
Isabella did not pass a resolution because our State Rep and State Senator were both very open to us about being NO votes! J
