Photo frame 1. Lay your paper down on a flat surface.

If your paper has a pattern on one side, start with it face down. Or, you can recycle paper, putting the printed side face up so that it's not seen in the final product (that is what is done in these pictures).

2. 2 Fold paper in half with the shortest ends together.

3. 3 Fold in half again so that you get quarters, then unfold this step.

4. 4 With the first fold at the top, fold the top corners down along the center fold.

5. 5

Unfold the corner flaps, open up the original fold and fold the corner flaps inside, now close the original flap.

6. 6 Fold the lower edge up as far as it will go, do the same on both sides, then unfold them.

7. 7

Fold the top corner down to the crease made in the previous step.

8. 8 Take hold of the top flap and the corner you just folded down in one hand and hold the bottom flap in the other, and gently draw them apart.

9. 9

Fold the two parts of the paper in the middle down into triangles so that it lies flat.

10. 10 Fold the outer edges in along the existing creases.

11. 11

Place your photo lengthwise in the center of the paper. There should be a piece of paper sticking out at each corner. Fold these corners in over the edge of the photo.

12. 12 Remove the photo from underneath the flaps and insert the corners into the triangle pockets on the flaps.

1.Take a square piece of paper with the corner facing you. If you want a colored envelope, make sure the colored side is facing down.

2.Fold the paper in half, from corner to corner across the square. 3. Take the top corner of the first layer and fold it down to the bottom edge. 4. Fold the right corner one third over to the left. You do not have to be exact, just try to be as accurate as possible. 5, Take the left corner and fold it over to the other end. Now the bottom portion should be square shape 6. Fold the point of the flap up to the top corner of the flap. Unfold. This is a crease to help guide the next step. 7. Fold the point of the flap up to the top corner of the flap. Unfold. This is a crease to help guide the next step.Turn the model 180 degrees. The point of view in the photo will now change. 8. Open the folded portion of the flap. 9. Make a squash fold on this flap. Make sure you flatten it well, as this will help secure the envelope closed. 10. Change the position back so it is "upright." Or turn it back 180 degrees. 11. Fold the very top point down to the bottom edge. Or, the bottom edge of the square you formed by "squashing." 12. Put the top flap (the portion you just folded down) into the "pocket" that was formed by the squash fold. 13. Flatten the model. Ensure that the model can hold itself together.

When folding the flap in Step 4, you may also use a ruler. Measure the length of the paper at the longest fold. Make three equal divisions, either with or without a pencil, and fold. You may have to use math to get the folds just right. Pick a sheet of paper that has a different color on the front than on the back. Larger sized envelopes are great for handmade cards. Use larger pieces of paper to make larger envelopes. For bigger envelopes you can use wrapping paper or any paper, as long as it is easy to fold. If the original sheet of paper is not square shaped, you may have to turn it into a square. If you don't have access to real origami paper you can make your own by painting one side of a square piece of any paper. Sharp creases make the envelope crisper and more secure. To make a sharp crease, pinch your fingernails together and drag it along the crease. Use a bone folder to make the creases really sharp.

2.

Start with a square piece of paper. You could choose a shade of red or pink, but any color will work. You can buy origami paper at a store or online. Or, you can get a regular 8 inch by 11 inch (20cm x 28cm) sheet of paper cut into a square.

3. 2
Fold the square in half diagonally both ways, and along the center . Unfold.

4. 3
Fold two of the opposite corners to the center of the paper. The horizontal and vertical folds can help guide you through this process. The two unfolded corners should be facing "up" and "down."

5. 4

Fold the square in half horizontally so that you get a "house" shape.

6. 5
Find the left diagonal crease, and fold that bottom left corner so that crease lines up with the middle crease.

7. 6
Fold the left half back, taking the triangle flap with it.

8. 7
Let go of the front triangle and let it open to the left.

9. 8
Pull the top corner straight down to the bottom center. The top will adjust itself as you pull it. Push the flap that forms toward the left and crease it down.

10.

Fold the extending flaps at the left and right to the edges of the formed "V" shape .

11.

10

Fold the top tips down a little bit, add more creases for a rounder edge .

12.

11

Flip the form over. The origami heart pocket is now ready for use.

1.

Begin with a piece of square paper. You can use origami paper or fold any piece of paper diagonally from the corner to the opposite edge and trim off the excess.

2. 2
Fold the paper in half along its horizontal middle. Open the piece of paper.

3. 3
Fold it in half along its vertical middle. You should now have two creases that intersect at the center of the square. Open the fold.

4. 4
Fold the in half on the diagonal, one corner to the opposite corner. Open it back up.

5. 5
Fold the paper on the other diagonal.

6. 6
Lay the paper out flat.

7. 7
Fold each corner in to the centre where the creases intersect. You should end up with a smaller square.

8. 8
Fold one edge of this square to the center.

9. 9
Fold the other edge of this square to the center.

10.

10

Open up the two corners you just folded, all the way from the centre. Notice which way the folds go, and open up only these two corners. If you folded the edges in from the top and bottom in the previous two steps, you will open the top and bottom corners.

11.

11

Rotate the paper 90 degrees, so that the unfolded corners point to the left and right.

12.

12

Fold the top edge in to the centre as shown, leaving the two corners open. Use the creases in the paper to align the middle of the edge with the centre of the paper.

13.

13

Fold the bottom edge in to the center, as in the previous step.

14.

14

Open the last two folds so that they are folded only 90 degrees. You now have the floor and two walls of your box.

15.

15

Fold one open end and, as you fold it, push the corners in, as shown. Try to position the corner in the centre of the "floor" of the box, with the other two corners. The creases should naturally fold into a wall as you do so.

16.

16

Wrap the open flap around, tucking in the corners. The point should meet in the center of the box bottom.

17.

17

Do the same with the other side. Tuck in the corner, following the existing creases.

18.

18

Wrap the remaining flap up and around the corners you just tucked in, meeting the other points in the centre of the box bottom.

19.
Finished.

EditTips

For best results, fold neatly. For each fold, carefully align the edge or corner with whatever edge, crease, or other feature it should meet, then crease the paper firmly. You might want to dab some glue on the bottom of the triangular flaps in order to make them stay down, or you can use tape. Your lid doesn't need to be different in size or steps.

If your paper is colored on one side, fold it so that the colored side faces down at first. To make a lid for your box, create a square of paper half a centimeter larger than the first box, and repeat all steps. An alternate method for making a lid is to repeat the steps with the same size paper, but on steps 12 and 13, don't fold the edges all the way to the center. Instead, leave about 1/8 of an inch between the edge and the center on both sides. You can use poster board to create a bigger box. You can use sticky notes to make a very small box. But beware it is very difficult.
