Educationshouldbeimpartedwithaview tothetypeofSocietywewishtobuild. WeareworkingforaModernDemocracy builtontheValuesofHumanDignityandEquality. TheseareonlyIdeals:weshouldmakethemLivingForces. OurVisionfortheFutureshouldincludetheseGreatPrinciples Dr.SarvepalliRadhakrishnan2ndPresidentofIndia(1962-1967) The news articles these days are simply filled with acts of violence, rape, hate, scams, political riffraff and corruption cases. And yet, I believe, in the midst of all this apparent darkness and desolation, there springs up time and time again,profoundactsofcourage,honesty,compassion,peace,loveandawholelistofothervaluerelatedpersonalities. Whydosomethrive intheschoolofviolenceandhate, whileothers,bloominaschoolofvaluesand significantcon tribution? At a time of birth, every parent has just one pertinent question in mind: What will this child turn out to be? In school too, every teacher, in spite of all his/her care, attention and value driven education, will still wonder whotheirstudentswouldonedaybecome.Whydothesameseedsproducethornsandthistlesinsome,whileothers produce a rich harvest in others? Education is never an ontheproductionline enterprise. Every student is unique andcapableofbecomingeitherastarorascarinsociety.TaareZameenPariseveryteacherswishanddream. AswecelebrateTeachersDay,Iwouldliketodrawourattention,tothefearlessValueGurusin IndiawhoalsoteachValuesatthecostoftheirownlives,personalsecurityandsacrifice:

The Nirbhaya case is still fresh in our mindsthe young girl from Delhi, gang rapedandleftfordead.Doescouragereallywin?Thereisneveradoubt! Om Prakash Yadav, 11 year old, on September 4, 2010 saved the lives of eight fellow students whenthemarutivantheyweretravellingincaughtfire.Hereceivedburninjuriesonhisface,back and lost a whole year at school. When asked would he do it again, he answered: Everytime! Doessavingthelivesofothersreallycount?Thereisnoquestionofdoubt.Itreallydoes!

Education in the final analysis, is enabling one to prepare for life and the Quality of Values imbibed all through this educativejourneywillmakethedifference.Wetakethetimetoday,tosaluteallourteacherswho,dayinanddayout, make us who we really are.
