Distribution Model

Used to model a distribution scenario.

Used to identify the systems involved in the distribution scenario. Used to identify the messages exchanged between the systems

Message Control

Cross Application technology used for output determination.

Triggers the ALE and EDI output for a business document. Separates the logic of generating IDOCS from application logic

Tracks the changes made to key documents in SAP.

IDOC Structure

Major components in exchange of data.

Selection Programs

Implemented as function modules.

Designed to extract application data and create master IDOCS. One selection program exists for each message type. Selection programs design depends on the triggering mechanism used in the process.

Filter Objects

Remove unwanted data for each recipient of data.

Port Definition

Used to define the medium in which documents are transferred to the destination system.

ALE uses a tRFC port which transfers the data in memory buffers.

RFC Destination

Logical name to define the characteristics of a communication link to a remote system on which a function needs to be executed.

In ALE , the RFC Destination specifies the information required to log on to the remote SAP system to which an IDOC is sent.

Partner Profile

Specifies the components used in the outbound process.

A partner profile is created for each SAP system with which we communicate. Partner profile consists of information like IDOC Type, Message Type, tRFC port etc.
