ACT I
BIRTH (BA-SU)

FADE IN: TITLE SCREEN.


The screens flicker, but remain black. We see bright neon
color letter’s appear slowly almost bending towards us, a
bit like the opening of Alien...
Superpose: Ne (OC) EN.
The letters fade and flip around from the periodic
symbolizes to a title...
Superpose: NEON GENESIS EVANGELION.
FADE TO:

EXT. SPACE--MILKY-WAY,SOLAR SYSTEM, PRIMORDIAL PLANETS,


(FIRST IMPACT) - NIGHT
Our solar system as it would have been millennia’s ago.
NARRATOR (V.O.)
After the Earth was created, it was
ordained to change.
Theia, a planet about the size of Mars, bears down on the
third planet from the sun - Earth before it became the
blue-green alive body it is today. Earth has no moon.
Theia approaches Earth at an angle to the axis of the solar
system.
EARTH: A barren, red and brown planet.
NARRATOR (V.O.)
Before man walked the Earth, how
would he see the sky was chosen for
him.
Thea collides with Earth. Clouds of dust and debris from the
impact spew into space and on to the surface of the barren
wasteland.
Theia drifts slowly away from Earth on a path out of the
solar system. Three large chunks from Earth takes up orbit.

NARRATOR (V.O.)
And with that time new life was
created.
The Chucks start to make there own gravitational pull and
then float away from the earth.
NARRATOR (V.O.)
And in the emptiness left behind
fashioned his world.
A Moon now circles Earth.
NARRATOR
The second impact would be a
different kind. It would cleanse
but not destroy.
EARTH: Reshaped by the collision with Theia.
The impact site. The primordial coastline.
The ocean where a hunk of land has become what is now JAPAN.
NARRATOR (V.O.)
...And so for nearly 4 billions
years the earth grew...
The camera flies down towards earth where we see groups of
all different nationalities fighting in a grand battle while
some do other things (dance, Build homes, Etc...) They are
very early versions of the civilizations.
NARRATOR (V.O.)
They fought in War, created
technologies, learned and
grew...thousands, billions,
millions of different group of
humans...
(pause)
...Of Flash and Blood. And they
lived on fighting and living for
thousands of years until...out of
the sky it came.
We see people in different countries (Mexico, America,
Africa, Japan Etc...) looking up in to the sky in wonder as
a shooting star or meteorite comes over their heads and
spiraling earth.
CUT TO:

EXT. FRINGES OF EARTH’S ATMOSPHERE-OVER ANTARCTICA.


The meteor hurls and spirals towards the earth thrusting
through the atmosphere, heating up more and more
towards the approaching white glistening snow-capes of
Antarctica. comes Little pieces flying off here and there.
Then slamming in to the surface of Antarctica, sending a
blast of energy, snow and ice for miles.
NARRATOR (V.O)
...And time stopped, the world
stood still and everything changed.
Life went on...oblivious to the
going and comings events as such.
But soon the world will have to
look as the darkness falls and the
sun rises over a new day, a changed
world, a new world. A world in need
of saving. But soon it would come
come time when the world would be
held in the hands of those who
would be more lost then the world
it self and the time would come for
them to stand up and look over the
changing lives...and shape the
world for a new age!
The camera moves over the smoldering rock of the snow
imbibed Meteorite and fog appears. Moving up towards the
gray sky the sounds of a hum being heard as the camera
perches for the sound until...
Now Moving through the frame are skids of helicopters, not
that we could make them out as that though; rather, hard
shapes that glide by at random through the fog, then a
phantom in full view floats through the white clouds.
FADE TO:

TITLE CARD, OVER BLACK:

ANTARCTICA
SEPTEMBER 10, 2000
FADE TO:

EXT. SKY OVER ANTARCTICA - DAY


The camera moves over what is left of the snowy landscape of
Antarctica. The entire continent is melted with only Big
islands of ice left over. We the camera is moving towards
one of the only left is still a big solid ice cap. The
Camera then pans around to show Three black futuristic
helicopters roaring over the sky of the arctic continent.
Then the camera pans to the side of one of the helicopters
and we see a red symbol of half a fig leaf with the motto
"God’s In His Heaven... All’s Right With The World" forming
the quarter circle on the bottom in the background with the
word: NERV, Super-posed over the leaf. then the camera
continues to move and goes in through a window inside of the
front of the main helicopter...
PAN TO:

INT. HELICOPTER - DAY


Inside the helicopter are Misato: a thirty-four year old
women, tapping her fingers and looking around impatiently.
Ritsuko: a forty-three year old women with blonde hair,
reading a book. Commander Ikari: a forty-five year old man,
involved in his own thoughts. Rei: a fourteen year old
girl with pale skin, staring out into space seemingly
distant from everything around her, and some Security.
All of the team are dressed the same in light snow gear
consisting of (a under-armer type shirt, a vest, sweat pants
of a sort and goggles all of the attire are gray, white, amd
black.) Misato sighs, stands up, and begins to walk towards
the front of the helicopter.
Rituko looks up at her curiously. She passes Ikari and Rei.
Neither one noticing her. She makes her way to the cockpit
coming to a door, which reads: "Cockpit.", in Japanese (a
subtitle appears under in English). She knocks on the door.
PILOT (O.S)
Come in.
She opens the door and walks in to the room where two pilots
sit at the controls. The Pilots have to yell over the heavy
sounds of the wings of the aircraft.
MISATO
How much longer until we reach the
dig site?

PILOT I
About three clicks away about
fifty miles. Won’t be much longer.
At this speed and altitude...ten
minuets or so!
PILOT II
Captain, if you don’t mind me
asking, what are we doing out here?
MISATO
Thats on a need to know basis kid.
And you don’t need to know. Just
get us there and hope everything
goes well.
PILOT II
But... I... Whats is it that were
looking for?
MISATO
Who said we were looking for
something?
PILOT II
Thats what everyone’s been saying.
I heard on the news that some
pirates found some kind of
artifact.
PILOT I
Yeah. They said everybody wants to
get their hands on it. The
Russians, Japanese--the others not
us, the Chinese, even the
Americans’ want it.
PILOT II
I heard that even the UN made an
offer. Hey you think...
MISATO
Thats enough! Don’t go sticking
your nose into things that aren’t
your concern. Understood?
PILOT I & II
Yes ma’am!
MISATO
Thank you, that’s all.

Misato leaves and returns to her seat. Ritsuko is eating a


sandwich and looking at a manila-foilder on her lap when she
sees Misato return.
RITSUKO
So?
MISATO
about 50 miles. Won’t be much
longer. 10 mins or so. The pilots
are getting a bit nervous. I think
bringing all this security up here
shook them up a bit. I can’t blame
them though.
RITSUKO
Well pirates aren’t the most
civilized people in the world...
now are they?
MISATO
(Laughs)
No. Well Yeah I guess your right.
But they do manage to find some
useful things now don’t they?
She looks over at Ikari and then back to Ritsuko.
MISATO
(Quietly)
So what did they find? All the
commander told me was that it was
essential to our "operations." What
does that mean?
RITSUKO
Don’t worry about it. Just do your
job and we’ll handle the rest. But
if it bothers you so much why don’t
you ask him yourself.
MISATO
I will.
(to Commander Ikari)
Sir I have a quick question, before
we land!
COMMANDER IKARI
Yes?
MISATO
Why are we going out there any way?

this so impotent? You haven’t told

(imitating the commander)
"Misato, your bright and you do

leave in an hour for Antartica."

COMMANDER IKARI
Yes, So....
(pause)
I was a little abrupt! Well ever
since second impact the ice polar
caps melting, sea levels rising and
the world going to hell! That much
you know, but with half the worlds
population killed and the others
scrambling just to stay alive! And
then they showed up....
MISATO
Who?
COMMANDER IKARI
Pirates. Not your normal, pirates
every one used to know. Just people
who did what they thought was
right. Ragged people, people who
saw something, they saw how bad the
world is becoming and how bad it
will go if they did not do
anything. They are
actually pirates who go around
the world collecting important
natural resources like oil, coal,
and such products. They then sell
it to whatever country will pay the
highest.
(pause)
natural resources have been hard to
come by, yes I know it doesn’t seem
like that back home but that’s
because Nerv tries to make it there
sworn duty to take a large
amount of everything and keep
every one alive, so that if it came
down to it and we have to be the
only one’s alive, we could stay
alive. Earth after only a few 4.5
billion years, I know it seems
(MORE)

COMMANDER IKARI (cont’d)


quite a long time but truthfully it
ain’t that that long in the picture
of things. Earth is starting to die
when it has not even lived that
long and it’s turning to a dying
carcass of it’s once former self
glory! the end is beginning and we
must try to prevent as much as we
can. And try to find a way to get
out of here encase it gets too bad!
MISATO
Shame, what a wonderful world it
was and could have returned to
being. I remember years ago when I
was so young, never saw what was
happening to the world, the pain
the suffering--the destruction of
life. It was all for the better, it
was good, and was a time I wish I
could have lived for ever and ever
and never left! So
quixotic, seeing things in a
different light believing things
were alive that were not at all
live, or never to live!
COMMANDER IKARI
I guess, we all do. But You see
where were really doing is with the
world in such a chaotic state these
pirates have made a living off of
their robbing and doing so found
something of great important in our
work. The Holy Lance, the Spear of
Destiny, Holy Spear, Lance of
Longinus, Spear of Longinus or
Spear of Christ, names given to the
lance that pierced Jesus’s side in
John’s account of the crucifixion.
And as it states: "...but one of
the soldiers pierced his side with
a lance, and immediately there came
out blood and water.’ John 19:34."
So you see they have found thee
spear the spear that pierced
Jesus’s side.
MISATO
Not thee spear!

COMMANDER IKARI
Yes, the one and only and we need
it! That’s why were going.
Just then we can see them all feeling the helicopter
starting to go downwards in it’s decent to land.
MISATO
Here we go.
COMMANDER IKARI
Get read, this is where everything
is put at stake and we can’t afford
to lose this at all! Anything...
nothing even the lance.
Just then Misato and Ritsuko taking as one voice response.
MISATO\RITSUKO
Yes. yes sir.
CUT TO:

I\E.-HELICOPTER\GLACIER-DAY
The Camera pans out of the rectangular window of the
helicopter and moves up till the camera is looking down on
the helicopters. We follow them as they start to decent to a
small glacier, one of the last an island of ICE. On the
surface as the copters get closer we can see a home made
military based (more or less just hangers). Men in rags and
stolen military armer standing around. Some are working with
tools and machinery picking at something locked in ice near
by. SEVERAL GUARDS, and PIRATES stand near a landing
platform, looking straight as us as the sleek craft lands on
the platform and a ramp lowers.
CUT TO:

INT. HELICOPTER-DAY.
The passengers all stand up and zipper there suits. One of
pilot comes out of the cockpit and walks towards commander
Ikari, as the others: Misato, Ritsuko, and Rei walk down the
ramp.
PILOT 1
So is there any thing you will be
need from me? Or should I just
wait?

COMMANDER IKARI
Just stay put and If I need you I
will radio you, make sure you set
to number 5.
(under his breath.)
Also have a gun ready encase things
get antsy.
Commander Ikari takes out a hand gun and cocks it then puts
it in a pocket (keeping it hidden from all eyes), then he
descends the ramp. As he descends Misato walks over to him.
MISATO
Commander this is Mr. Simmons He
going to be negotiate with us.
COMMANDER IKARI
Good. I’m Commander Ikari from
Nerv, we all have come to get the
spear we’ve been told you found.
SIMMONS
So your the first to come here to
look at it and talk to us face to
face.
COMMANDER IKARI
What do you mean?
SIMMONS
Well...Most have talked to us using
the internet and such ways. I don’t
know why you people would care at
all for this?
RITSUKO
This is very crucial to our
mission. Sir we need this...
SIMMONS
Ok, If you say so.
(points)
It’s over there my men are still
excavating it. been here for so
many days and we’re not even half
way yet, at least that what I
think. Could be wrong.
PAN TO:

INT. ANATRICA-PIRATES BASE: EXCAVATION SITE-DAY.


the camera pans to men using picks and different high-tech
recruitments to going at ice burg like shards encasing
something HUGE. The camera then comes over the men and we
see a huge Lance. The camera pans around to show, the group
(Misto, Simmons, Ritsuko...) walking towards the excavation
site and watching the people working.
SIMMONS
So if you follow me, we can see the
other side, we’ve done much more
work there and have been making
more progress in another few hours
we will be half way, I think over
all in another few days we could
have this thing out and ready to be
shipped to the highest bidder in no
time. Especially saying that if
it’s you...Hummm?
COMMANDER IKARI
We are willing to pay handsomely
Mr. Simmons. We will pay you
greatly enough, no price is out of
reach. We will stay here at your
base until this the lace is ready
and can taken back to Japan.
SIMMONS
Hey, so your part of the Japs
government too? Huh! I knew they
would be the first to act.
COMMANDER IKARI
We are and we aren’t. Lets just say
were not look at kindly by the true
government officials.
SIMMONS
I see, come lets get inside. Go
tell you men to park in the hanger
and come inside too...we can all go
get warm and rest up.
RITSUKO
Sounds like a good idea. Misato
go take Rei inside and you too
start to get warm. Commander Ikari
and I will go back to the
Helicopter.

MISATO
(Burst of happiness.)

FADE TO:

INT. HANGER 4: BOARDING AREA-MIDDAY.


We see all of the team setting in the metal hanger all
decorated like a small home on a TV studio set. The Girls
put down their duffel bags and situate themselves.
FADE TO:

SAME-LATER.
the girls are changing, Rei walks walks over to a shower
sitting against one of the empty walls of the hanger not
part of the overall rooms. She starts to shower, as the
hanger door opens to reveal Simmons peaking, unaware of
there nakedness.
CUT TO:

I\E HANGER-DOORWAY-SUNDOWN.
The door of the hanger opens and Simmions peaks in to the
room.
SIMMON
I just wanted to let you...
(shocked and assamed)
Oh My Sorry Ladies...
MISATO (O.S)
Get out.
CUT TO:
RITSUKO
Don’t you have any curtsy?
SIMMONS
sorry, I just wanted to let you all
know that if you are hungry you can
come to have the hanger next story
number 5 and get some chow. I am
sorry for the intrusion.
FADE TO:

INT. HANGER 5: CAFETERIA.


The group of security, Gendo, Misato, Rei and Ritsuko sit
and eat.
FADE TO:

INT. HANGER 4: BOARDING AREA-MIDDAY.


The camera moves over the beds in the room coming towards
Misato the only one still awake, who is playing with her
hair and deep in thought. Her eye’s looking in to the sky as
if enfixed in a transe.

INT. HANGER 4: BOARDING AREA-NIGHT.


The camera moves over the beds in the room coming towards
Misato the only one still awake, who is playing with her

Ritusko and Misato in a conversation that she is thinking of
is heard...
RITSUKO (O.S)
Still in love?
MISATO (O.S)
What? Still in a lot of things! I’m
young and it will be one of the
biggest blemishes on my whole life.
RITSUKO (O.S)
I meant that he may Love you, I see
the way he is around you...That not
just himself or just a man. He’s
not the same person when he is with
you. Not all, he changes. He’s a
romantic, and it shows. Did I scare
you?
MISATO (O.S)
(angered)
Why you!
(calming down, sigh)
it’s no use, maybe he does. Maybe
you’re actually right?
FLASH-CUT TO:

INT. DORM-ROOM: TOKYO-2 UNIVERSITY-AFTERNOON-1998


Ritsuko is at a desk talking and writing. Misato is on her
bed in paperthin pajamas looking at the cealing.
RITSUKO
I mean have you too been away from
each other for more then ten
minunets with out want to be
together or kill each other?
MISATO
Since I been year for...what? a
year and half? only most three! And
we have not been apart, you’re
right. But sometime he can be apain
but when he’s not he’s the sweet
guy I know.
RITSUKO
See!
MISATO
I guess...
RITSKO
Have you
Misato talks to herslef in the room in a whisper looking
towards the sleep Ritsuko.
MISATO
(To herslef)
Maybe she was right?

INT. HANGER 4: BOARDING AREA-NIGHT.


She goes back to playing with her hearing and thinking
Transfixed again. Voices are heard once more...
She sighs. Then voices are heard.
VOICES (O.S)
By now realize the two of the voices are those of Misato and
Ritsuko years before this moment. And the voice of an
unformilar Gentilmen.

JAPAN, 2000-5 MONTHS LATER.
FADE TO:

INT. HALLWAY-DAY
Gendo, Misato, Ritsuko, two new computer technicians: Anna
and Hideski, And a few other works down a thin white
hallway.

TITLE CARD, OVER BLACK:


NEW YORK, 2000, 8 WEEKS LATER.
FADE TO:

INT. MILLENNIUM UN PLAZA HOTEL-EARLY MORNING-DOCUMENTARY


QUALITY.
Gendo slowly dresses, silently.
CUT TO:

INT. HOTEL HALLWAY-EARLY MORNING.


Gendo walks alone down the quite hallways with his hand held
behind his back. A man passes him and happily nods to him.
Gendo returns the nod and put his hand losely at his side.

INT. HOTEL RESTURANT-MORNING.


Gendo drink a cup off coffee.
FADE TO:

I\E. HOTEL-MORNING.
Gendo walks out of the hotel in to his Black Streach Limo,
with the door held open by the driver.
GENDO
Thank you.
DIRVER
You’re welcome Mr. Ikari
As Gendo situates himself he is greeted.
MAN
Hello Gendo.
GENDO
Hello Kōzō.
KŌZŌ
So you self well.
GENDO
Yes, as well as I could.
KŌZŌ
Good, Good.
Kōzō picks up a small PDA and starts to tap on it with a
pan.
KŌZŌ
So today we have our meeting with
the boys at the UN, then Lunch and
a small meeting with some of the
different boards and talks about
the fix ups that are still taking
place due to Second impact and talk
to some of the families hit hard
from the deviation. have to have
some kind of heart. Then at five
O’clock we have dinner and by eight
we are flying out. Simple as that.
CUT TO:

EXT. NEW YORK, UNITED NATIONS BUILDING-DAY.


The limo appears driving up to the building, Gendo and
Kozo step out.
SUPER: NEW YORK, UNITED NATIONS, 2000.

INT. UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY-NEW YORK-DAY


Gendo and the hundreds of other "Representatives", sit in
the General Assembly area.
