Jumaa Prayer

for the Muslims of Africa and beyond

West Africa Advanced School of Theology

Intercede with Us for the Muslim World!

30 August 2013

The heir to Davids throne will come, and he will rule over the Gentiles. They will place their hopes on him (Romans 15:12, NLT). Let's pray this week that the Spirit will prepare hearts to receive the Good News, as He did Cornelius in Acts 10, and that He will guide us, as He did Peter, to go and speak to those who are waiting to hear. Be willing to be used!*

Today's Prayer Requests: From Students, Alumni, and Missionaries

CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC: Please pray for God's people here; since a coup in March deposed the president, the country is seeing greater Islamic influence and more persecution of Christians. For more information, see http://bit.ly/17f7L9l. GUINEA-CONAKRY: A student shares two requests: (1) In a Fulani area of the country, a Youth With A Mission group recently left an established kindergarten in the hands of the Assemblies of God. Please pray that the Lord will supply qualified teachers who are willing to leave Conakry to minister to the children here. (2) Pray for the Lord's protection over a young Fulani woman. When she accepted Jesus, her parents forced her to marry. Her Muslim husband allowed her to continue in her faith, but when a child was born, he imposed Islam. She fled, leaving even her child behind. Her family found her in an AG church and took her; at this time her whereabouts are unknown. SENEGAL/NIGER: A student reports that the government is calling for Senegalese to support and demonstrate in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood. Please pray that this radical spirit will not pervade in this more moderate nation. Also, this past Sunday thousands of demonstrators gathered in Niamey, Niger, in support of the Muslim Brotherhood. Pray for the churches and believers in these nations as they reach out with Jesus' message of peace and hope. SENSITIVE COUNTRY: Please pray for direction and wisdom for a family who has been working in a sensitive nation. They are being told to move out but feel strongly that the Lord wants them to remain.

In the News
We have been praying for Pastor Saeed Abedini, an Iranian-American arrested in Tehran on 26 September 2012 and sentenced to 8 years in prison. This past Monday his sentence was upheld in an appeals court, making his chances for release virtually nilhumanly speaking! Pray for strength, healing, and encouragement for him and for his family in both the U.S. and Iran, for his effective ministry in Evin Prison, and for his release. See also http://bit.ly/16EtN0O.

For Muslim Women**

Pray for Christian workers who aid and rescue trafficked Muslim women: that God would provide for their needs; sustain them in body, mind, and spirit; and give them favor for the task. Pray that the Muslim women they reach will be made whole in the name of Almighty Jesus.
