AWE ~Advocates for Wellness Education

A peer education program of the Counseling and Wellness Center


MISSION: The role of AWE is to engage student leaders in CWCs outreach mission to promote an overall healthy lifestyle among MMC students. AWE wellness advocates educate fellow students on the importance of physical, emotional and psychological balance as a vital part of student wellbeing. AWE ADVOCATES ACTIVITIES: AWE wellness advocates work closely with CWC on outreach events including Stress Down Pop-Ups, Stress Down Day, Bulletin Boards, Digital Boards and information tabling. Volunteers also have the opportunity to initiate programming related to health and wellness topics. TIME COMMITMENT: Student volunteers should be able to meet weekly or biweekly with the CWC outreach coordinator to plan events and be able to initiate and carry out two to four events per semester. QUALIFICATIONS: Matriculated student for entire 2014-2015 academic year Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 Good academic and disciplinary standing Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to work with groups

BENEFITS: Volunteering as an AWE Advocate offers you the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the welfare of your fellow students and to increase your personal knowledge of health and wellness information and promotion. Participation also provides the chance to gain leadership, event planning, marketing and presentation skills; to build your resume; and to form professional relationships with College staff.
