INTRODUCTION TO LUMINON SPECIAL EVENTS

INTRODUCTION
Luminon Productions cc was registered in June 1987, and we are now in our 25th year of operation. We specialise in producing and directing corporate special events including video and audio production, managing and producing award and high profile ceremonies and concentrate on technical excellence in regard to presentation. We have consistently been credited as one of the top Production and Special Events Producers in Africa with an impressive client base. Our objective is to remain a small but totally efficient company keeping clients budgets within reasonable parameters. You can hire any supplier you want but who takes responsibility for the actual running of the event?

STAFF
Luminon consists of owner and 100% shareholder Cal Kennedy, CSEP, who is the Event Producer and marketing manager. He has 30 years of production/broadcasting experience, with the highlights of producing the South African Elections for the SABC English channel in 1994 and assisting Merle McKenna (AME) for Rugby World Cup 1995 producing the opening and closing ceremonies. Luminon produced the Wesbank Car of the Year event for seven years (including 2008), the SAB Sports Journalists of the Year Awards for eight years and was commissioned by a company in the USA to produce a video for the 1999 Academy Awards. We have also produced personal videos for former Presidents Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki. 2005 and 2006 were special years as we were part of Oprah Winfreys production team, which produced an incredible Christmas to 900 South African orphans and opened the exclusive Henley-on-Klip girls school. Then we finished the year producing and directing all the events during the SA Golf Open at Fancourt Links 2005 and Humewood Golf Club in Port Elizabeth 2006 for sponsors South African Airways, which was managed by The Attic Event Management Company. 2008 took us to Dubai for the annual Telkom business conference for 10 days. Cal wrote exams in January 2001 in the United States of America, and successfully attained international recognition as a Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP). Only 550 people worldwide have this accreditation through the George Washington University ( two from South Africa). The CSEP designation is the hallmark of professional achievement in the special events industry, earned through education, performance, experience and service to the industry. Cal also holds a Post Graduate Degree in Business Management Special Events, at the University of Cape Town. He is also a qualified SETA trainer, assessor and SA Host and was involved with South Africas first pilot learnership project with Party Design.

This company has traveled the world for over 21 years and has shot programs in more than thirty countries across six continents giving us an established video library of amazing and original footage. Luminon produced the Gift from Africa video for the 1999 Oscar ceremony, which was broadcast on CBS, NBC & ABC in the United States of America.

CLIENTS
The following is a list of some of our clients and various productions done for them past & present:

President Nelson Mandela/President Thabo Mbeki We produce various awards, corporate and launch functions held at the Presidents Guest House in Pretoria and Tuynhuis in Cape Town. Luminon was the only production house invited to shoot the 1999 Presidents Inaugural party at the State Theatre. We have produced The Presidents Sports Awards from 1995 up to an including 2004 when they were changed to the SABC Sports Awards. . Oscars 1999 Luminon produced the GIFT FROM AFRICA video, a production that was commissioned by Katherine Baumann of the United States and Sarah da Vanzo of Anglo Gold showing the creation of a 24-Carat gold purse with a purple amethyst and 90 diamonds worth over five million rand. It was given to film Director Steven Spielberg at the 1999 Academy Awards ceremony. Spielberg has auctioned the piece and has donated the money to his World War II Veterans charity. This production was broadcast extensively on USA networks NBC, ABC and CBS. Cricket South Africa Continue to produce the Mutual & Federal CSA Cricketer of the Year Awards since inception in 2004 and the CSA M&F Cricket album awards annually. These high profile events have become some of the most anticipated gala banquets on the sporting calendar. Telkom Produced & Directed the Corporate Customer Forum Conference held in Dubai plus the Ambassador Awards, Connexion Awards and the Leading Lights Awards for event manager Beryl Suriah from Caysha Marketing between July and October 2008. South African Breweries We have been contracted by SAB since 1991 to produce major international sporting videos and special events in South Africa including Rugby, Soccer and Cricket. We are also involved in keeping the SAB World of Beer Centre sports videos updated and do various corporate videos for conferences and seminars. Luminon have produced the Prestigious SAB Journalists of the Year Awards event seven times in ten years. Barloworld Limited Luminon produced the Barloworld/Business Report/PriceWaterHouse Coopers Global Company of the year Awards six times since inception. All the companies involved in this distinguished event gross over ten billion rand annually. (Highest 53 Billion) Rugby World Cup 1995 Luminon was one of the producers contracted to help conceptualise both the opening and the closing ceremonies for this prestigious occasion, produced the after match banquet at Gallagher Estate and produced the Gold Medal Awards event at the Presidents Guest House for former President Mandela.

SABC Cal was one of the Executive Producers for General Elections 1994 and was Executive Producer of Good Morning South Africa in 1993/94 on contract. He was the creator and Executive Producer of the follow up morning program The Breakfast Club for a twelve-month contract for SABC TV2. M.Net Produced, directed, created and owned the John Berks Talk Show. This show was rated as the best local program on M.Net for 12 Consecutive months in 1991. South African Airways Luminon was contracted to go around the world with SAA to shoot productions in North America ( San Francisco, Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Seattle ), Mauritius (to cover the Helderberg disaster and investigation), the East (Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore), South America and many others. Luminon owns an extensive video library professionally shot due to these productions. We also produced and directed all the special events during the South African SAA Golf Open at Fancourt in 2005 and the Humewood Golf Club in 2006. Cisco Computers International - Sophiatown An event to create the Sophiatown Artists Trust was produced and directed by Luminon at Gallagher Estate in July 2000 For Cisco computers. It included a two-day event with over 200 artists and musicians, a crew of 150 people, 30 painted backdrops ( created by Party Design), and three separate staging areas. The production was filmed via a seven camera outside broadcast unit also produced by Luminon. Avril Elizabeth Home Luminon had the privilege of being on the marketing board ( 1997-2007), and is responsible for making radio and television commercials for the Avril Elizabeth Home for the Mentally handicapped. Our company handled both the annual charity ball and the 30th anniversary awards for 2000/1. Mondi Business Paper Limited Produce the esteemed annual Mondi Paper Magazine Awards (20012006) the Mondi Shanduka Newspaper Awards (since 2002) and SHOP-SA Mondi sponsored Ithabise Awards since inception. WesBank Car of the Year Awards The event highlight for the motoring fraternity is the WesBank Car of the Year Awards. Luminon produced this glittering banquet seven times with concepts beyond the imagination. From the winning vehicle levitating onto the stage to a spectacular night race at Kyalami to the winner magically appearing before the guests eyes in a multiple Copperfield illusion played in by a 120-piece orchestra, this event is always spectacular. The 2008 production sent a vehicle into the future and the winner magically appeared before a stunned audience. Oprah Winfrey Harpo Productions The production team of Party Design, The Attic and Luminon Events, put together the amazing Christmas party for 900 Soweto AIDS orphans sponsored by Pick & Pay and Nike for Oprah Winfrey and Harpo Productions. This is part of Oprahs African dream tour that runs on an annual basis with Oprah personally hosting each event. In December 2006 we produced the opening of the exclusive school for girls at Henley-on-Klip sponsored by the Winfrey foundation.
