Notes for DOS Reporting Systems 1.

Details of all student end of course certificates must be saved in a certs masterfile which is to be forwarded to the AD at the end of the term. 2. Similarly, all Trinity/ETAPP exam details are to be saved in a Trinity/ETAPP master-file and forwarded to the AD at the end of the term. 3. A Friday Informal meeting must be instituted at lunchtime in the staffroom at each centre by the DOS. The purpose of this meeting which should take no longer than necessary is to give the teachers an opportunity to raise any academic issues, and indeed for the DOS to make any general comments or announcements to the teachers. It is expected that the DOS will elicit ongoing feedback from the teachers on the performance of the MLI curriculum; indeed it is suggested that a weekly poll of the best and worst of the materials will be instituted as a lighthearted way of fine tuning data for the ongoing improvement of the curriculum. 4. The DOS will also collect data on the success or otherwise of the curriculum and teaching standards from the students end of course questionnaires and directly from the student leaders. 5. A space will be allocated in the teachers log form for the teachers to make lesson by lesson comments on the success or otherwise of the selected materials. In this way the DOS will get a more open insight into the performance of the curriculum from the teachers perspective. 6. The DOS must perform observations of all teachers within the first week of their tenure. Feedback from these observations should be logged on the appropriate form. Feedback sessions need to be carried out within two working days of the observation, preferably on the same or following day. Teacher observation data must be stored in the observation master-file and forwarded to the AD at the end of the term. 7. The DOS needs to peruse the daily teachers logs on a daily basis to ensure that the curriculum is being adhered to. 8. The DOS must keep the AD abreast of all and any problematic academic issues as they arise and are dealt with. These updates should be made by email and/or in the

course of normal daily communications. Clarification or closure on all and any significant issues should be compiled in the weekly Friday report to the AD. This emailed report should be no longer than necessary, detailing any movement on live issues and general course feedback. 9. The ADOS should look after the perusal of lesson logs (point 7) and student feedback questionnaires to free the DOS up for teacher observations and meetings with leaders. 10. In conclusion, the DOS must channel the various strands of course feedback teachers comments; students comments; leaders comments into a prioritised summary on a weekly basis in the Friday report and pass on any pressing or significant issues directly in the course of normal daily communications.
