Submitted by rradi (Intel) on Sat, 10/27/2012 - 19:36 Hi everyone, Windows 8 has just launched, so Intel just released the new WiDi software v3.5.40.0 to support Windows 8. Therefore, in order to enable WiDi officially on your Windows 8 device, follow the steps below: 1. Download the latest graphics driver for your Intel HD graphics from the following link. As of writing this message, the latest version is 15.28.7.2867 (9.17.10.2867). Choose x86 if you are running a 32-bit version of Windows 8, or x64 if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows 8: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily... (http://downloadcenter.intel.com
/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=2nd+Generation+Intel %c2%ae+Core%e2%84%a2+Processors+with+Intel%c2%ae+HD+Graphics+3000%2f2000)

2. Download the latest Intel Wireless ProSet driver and software for Windows 8 from the following link. As of writing this message, the version is 15.5.6. Choose x86 if you are running a 32-bit version of Windows 8, or x64 if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows 8: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=21999&lang=eng&wapkw=proset+15.5.6
(http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=21999&lang=eng&wapkw=proset+15.5.6)

3. Download the latest Intel WiDi Software v3.5.40.0 from the following link: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y& DwnldID=22016&ProdId=3227&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%208%2C%2064-bit*&DownloadType=Software%20Applications
(http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22016&ProdId=3227&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%208%2C%2064bit*&DownloadType=Software%20Applications)

4. After installing the WiDi software, run it and you should find your WiDi adapter. Connect to it, and it will show you a "Device Pairing" screen. Enter the 4-digit security code you see on your TV screen, and press continue. 5. The Windows "Add a device" screen will show up, asking you to "Choose a device or printer to add to this PC". Click on "IntelWiDiAdapter", and click Next. 6. A new Window will show asking you to "Enter the WPS PIN for your television". An 8-digit number may be already showing. Make sure the number is the same as the one you see on your television, and click Next. 7. The Intel WiDi software will take a bit of time the first time it connects to your WiDi adapter, and then will notify you that there is a firmware update. It will say that it wants to update your adapter to firmware v3.5.28.0. Click Update. 8. 7 files will be copied to your WiDi adapter, and your WiDi adapter will soon start updating itself and then restart. 9. After the adapter restarts after updating, and shows that it is ready to accept connections, connect to it again from the Intel WiDi software. The "Device Pairing" screen will show up again. Click continue. 10. The Windows "Add a device" screen will show up again, asking you to "Choose a device or printer to add to this PC". Click on the device that shows the name of your WiDi Adapter (if you havent changed this manually before, for NetGear WiDi adapters, this will probably be Living Room-PTV2000). 11. An 8-digit number will show on your television. Enter this number into the "Add a device" Window and click Next. 12. You will get connected to the WiDi adapter, and your computer's screen will be duplicated on the television, but the resolution might change and become lower. If this happens, right click on your desktop, and click on "screen resolution" and change your resolution to one that is appropriate for your television. Attached in this blog is a video of me going through all these steps on my Ultrabook with an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 card. By the way, if you still have other computers running windows 7 and an older version of the WiDi software, you will still be able to connect it to the WiDi adapter and enjoy WiDi, even though the adapter was just upgraded to firmware v3.5.28.0 Hope to hear back from you guys about your experiences.

I have an i5 Toshiba with Intel HD graphics and WiDi. Here is the system info from the current driver: Intel HD Graphics (Core i5) Report Date: 10/28/2012 Report Time[hr:mm:ss]: 8:4:9 Driver Version: 8.15.10.2858 Operating System: (6.2.9200) Default Language: English (United States) DirectX* Version: 10.1 Physical Memory: 3890 MB Minimum Graphics Memory: 32 MB Maximum Graphics Memory: 1696 MB Graphics Memory in Use: 113 MB Processor: Intel64 Family 6 Model 37 Stepping 5 Processor Speed: 2528 MHz Vendor ID: 8086 Device ID: 0046 Device Revision: 02 The latest HD driver you mentioned, win64_15287, will not install on my machine. It reports that "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." Does that seem right? I went to the river in device manager and asked windows to look for the latest driver. It says I have it. After removing the old widi software, I have tried going ahead with the widi software installation anyway. It says: "This platform is not compatible with Intel(R) Widi or the application is in use." Thanks for looking to help with this. I would like to have it working!

I've followed all the steps, but it didn't work actually. After launching Widi program, after 10 - 20 secs a message pops up saying 'WidiApp has stopped working' and the app crashes.

Just to be sure. These steps are only for Windows 8 Since you are downloading win64_15287, does your toshiba laptop/ultrabook have Windows 8 x64 bit edition on it? Did WiDi worked before either on Windows 7 on the same system or using the previous unofficial workaround for Windows 8, but now its not working? As for the issue with "WiDiApp has stopped working". it is quite difficult to debug with only this information. Again, did WiDi work for you before, but now isn't? Make sure you are Installing all three drivers in the order above: 1 - Wireless (WiFi) Driver, 2 - Graphics Driver, 3 - Wireless Display Software, 4 - WiDi Widget (optional). It is also recommended to restart the PC after each driver or software installation. Also make sure you are installing all drivers/software as an administrator. to be sure, right click on the driver, click properties, click compatibility, check "run this program as an administrator"

I'm using a Dell XPS L501x, I previously had no issues with wireless display in Windows 7. Since installing windows 8 I was prompted to uninstall the Intel Pro Wireless software. I have tried following the steps in this guide, when I try to install the video driver listed (step 1) I get an error saying "The computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the

Hi, I have made all this operations, uninstall Win 7 drivers and install Win 8 drivers. I have disabled the antivirus and firewall, etc.... But I have a message when I'm trying to connect to my Belkin Screencast "Unable to connect to display" (in french). I can see my adaptor in the Widi app but when I click to connect,.... after few seconds, the windows shows me this message. Do you have a solution ? Thanks

I had the same results as the first user, and followed the directions given. After trying an older version of the software ( 3.0.13.0). It installed, but then I received the error message, "Intel My WifFi Technology not enabled. Restart the computer and try again." So, I restarted, but it did not enable My WiFi. The WiDi software I used came from your older post from 29 May 2012. Now, I don't know what software to use. Please advise, because I really don't want to uninstall Windows 8 because Intel WiDi is not compatible.
