Why GATE?

GATE is the standard and one of the most difficult examinations conducted not only for admission in post graduate(like M.Tech) but it also provides a gateway to several public sector enterprises. GATE exam is important because of below mentioned factors:

Campus placement in National and International private or public companies. Many PSUs base their selection criteria as GATE Scores. Some such PSUs are: IOCL, NTPC, BHEL, PGCIL, BARC etc. Teaching: Professor, Asst. Professor at IITs, NITs etc. Junior Research Fellow: ISRO, DRDO, BARC, IITs etc. Senior Research Fellow: ISRO, DRDO, BARC, IITs etc. Junior Research Associates/ Senior Project Associates Scientists C grade jobs Research & Development Wing etc.

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) Carrying 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections. These questions are objective in nature, and each will have a choice of four answers, out of which the candidate has to mark the correct answer(s). Numerical Answer Question There will be questions of 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections. For these questions the answer is a real number, to be entered by the candidate using the virtual keypad. No choices will be shown for this type of questions. Common Data Questions Question number 48, 49, 50, 51 are common data questions. Linked Answer Questions Question 52, 53 and 54, 55 are linked answer questions. If first question is answered correctly only then second question will be evaluated. If first question is unanswered then second question will not be evaluated. If first question is wrongly answered then second question will not be evaluated Note on Negative Marking for Wrong Answers For a wrong answer chosen for the multiple choice questions, there would be negative marking. For1-mark multiple choice questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. Likewise, for 2-mark multiple choice questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. However, there is no negative marking for a wrong answer in numerical answer type questions
