Content Area Standards: 1- Communication skills: Students will be able to use language other than english for communication. 2- Cultural Understanding: Students will develop cross-cultural skills and understanding. Technology Standards: 1- Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity: a. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness b. Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources 2- Design and Develop Digital Age Learning Experiences and Assessments: a. Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity d. Provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching 3. Model Digital Age Work and Learning: a. Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations d. Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning Lesson Objectives: Students will: Practice their reading, comprehension, writing and oral French skills Proficiency in travel vocabulary Learn about French and Francophone culture Become more aware of Frenchs global reach Learn research and planning skills Proficiency multiple forms to technology to execute final project Introduce the Learning Activity: A: Day one: Introduction to the travel unit. Explain briefly the history of the French language and its relations to its old territories. This meaning wh y there are so many francophone countries in the world.Students will be exposed to basic travel vocabulary ei. verbs, nouns, phrases. Day two: Lay out the project component of the lesson. Teacher will explain criteria in detail and show example of project. Go over what is an acceptable website that can be used for

reference and what is unacceptable. Furthermore, the teacher will encourage students to use google.fr in order to conduct their research in french and use actual french websites/articles. B: This is motivate the students by allowing them to explore someplace completely new and exciting. It will also show a practical, yet amusing way to use French through travel. It should stimulate the imagination. Provide Practice: Day one: There will be one assessment activity in class repeated twice. One will be giant flash cards for the new verbs. Teacher will hold up a random subject flashcard and a random verb flashcard and ask the student to conjugate the verb in the proper form according to the subject. This is just an introduction lesson with repetitive actions to help reinforce the new information. It will happen just after new vocab is introduced then again at the end of class. The second time ask students to use verbs in simple sentences with new vocab from unit. This will allow for real life application. Day two: Place students into groups of three with famous trios strategy. Hand out pieces of paper with names of parts of famous trios ei: bacon, lettuce, tomato. In the group, students will practice simple conversations of asking/giving directions using the new vocab to help them get in the mind set of traveling in a french speaking nation. Day three: Class time will be used as a lab. Students will be able to work with the program of their choice. Since it is in class the teacher will be available to assist any students who are unfamiliar with the software. Provide Knowledge of Results: Day one: Either the answer they provide verbally will be correct or incorrect. If incorrect explain the correct answer and have the student try again will a new combination. If student gives another incorrect answer let them know its okay; the information is new and move on to the next student. Day two: Walk around the room and listen to the groups converstations. If they are doing well, let them know. If they seem to be struggling join in for a sentence but encourage them to use their textbooks as an aid. Day three: Supervise the lab. Help students if needed. Review the Activity: Day one: Ask three students what they need to have done for next class: pick city and technology medium they will use. As well as, doing light research into chosen city. Day two: Have students reiterate the criteria on which their projects and oral presentation will be graded. Make sure everything is clear and well understood. Day three: Check in individually with each students progress. Make sure some progress has been made during the lab time and make sure they are on track and following the criteria that was handed out the previous day. Reiterate the due date of project before the end of the class. Methods of Assessment: Students will be assessed in two ways. Firstly, they will present orally in front of their peers for a duration of five mins. They should explain one day of their tour using the travel vocab learned. This will be graded by the teacher using a rubric. (See below)

Secondly, they will produce a hard copy of their final project in the technology medium of their choice (powerpoint, word publisher, etc.). This will be due for all students on the first day of presentations. This will be graded more subjectively with a letter grade assigned. Both grades will be combined and the resulting average will be the grade given to each student for the unit.
