BACKGROUND:
Plasma welding technique grew soon after the WWII, when aircraft were being designed and made from aluminium alloys and not steels which were too heavy. Ever since, plasma arc welding technique has remained in forefront as a cheap, reliable and proven workhorse for most critical welding right from aerospace application to even seamless welding of coffee pots or water containers. The welded joint can not been seen or felt, with naked eyes or fingers. The objective of this training programme is to offer a wide range of practical information, apart from the metallurgical complexities that control the design, fabrication, even repairs or reclamation work in problematic materials like stainless steels, super-alloys and aluminium / titanium alloys. Micro Plasma Welding is the low current avatar of the very efficient PAW. Here, less than 1.00 mm thick metallic sheets can easily be welded, even down to 0.01 mm thickness which is impossible with other welding techniques. Comparison should not be made with laser beam welding or electron beam welding as this equipment cost upwards of 10 times the cost of M-PAW equipment.
