Introduction to Human Resource Management: This lecture will cover the definition, importance, the basic functions of HRM, duties and scope of an HR manager; and the concepts of line and staff authority. Personnel Planning and Recruitment: This lecture will cover the basic concepts of job analysis, job description, job specification and equal employment opportunity principles. Interviewing Candidates: This lecture will cover the different methods of interviewing and observing the candidates. Employee Testing and Selection: This lecture will cover the importance of selecting the right candidates, background and reference checking system. Training and Development: This lecture will cover the concepts of orientation, learning, motivation and different types of training methods. Leadership: This lecture will cover the concepts of a manager and a leader, situational aspect of leadership and different leadership styles. Managing Change: This lecture will cover the nature of work change, response and resistance to change. Performance Appraisal: This lecture will cover the definition of goals and work standards, measurement of performance against set standards and appraisal of performance. Compensation and Benefit: This lecture will cover the concepts of compensation and benefit, pay and performance, vacations and holidays, flexible benefit plan; and laws relating to compensation and benefit. Motivation: This lecture will cover the definition and nature of human needs, definition of motivation and its importance of it in workplace.

Employee Relations: This lecture will cover the concepts of ethics and fair treatment at work, dismissals, termination at will and wrongful discharge, causes of dismissals, layoffs, downsizing and plant closing; and the guidelines of layoffs/plant closing process. Labour Relations and Collective Bargaining: This lecture will cover the concepts of CBA, CBA and the law, employee grievances, sources of grievances and how to handle grievances. Employee Safety and Health: This lecture will cover the importance of safety at work, causes of accidents and laws relating to safety, security and cleanliness at workplace. Globalization and Career Management: This lecture will cover the concept of globalization, basics of career management, international assignment and expatriation process. Review of the Previous Topics: This lecture will contribute to the discussions of the lectures/topics previously delivered and assessing the students strengths and weaknesses.
