Have you ever prayed for a little help from the heavens on an English test? Would you believe that the Bible confirms that God is completely able to give you knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning? Thats straight out of Daniel chapter one. The Bible says, To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. So now youre wishing you were one of those four men. Well, guess what? You can have the same help from God they did. In order to do so, you must first understand why God chose to bless them in such a way. Then, you must apply the same principles in your life that Daniel and his friends applied in theirs. First of all, Daniel was obedient to God. When the kings officer tried to get Daniel to eat meat that had prayers to false gods offered over it, Daniel decided he would not dishonor God by eating it. Your words and actions at school and at home must bring honor to God. Bad jokes, cursing, and fighting are just a few of the things that dishonor God and keep you from receiving His help with learning. Decide to obey God and let your actions bring honor to Him through obedience of His word. Next, Daniel had faith in God. Daniel convinced the kings officer to let he and his friends eat vegetables for ten days. After that, Daniel told the officer to treat them based on what he saw. If they didnt look healthier, their lives were probably going to be in danger. Thats quite a risk, but Daniel trusted God. After ten days they looked healthier than all the other men who had been eating the meat offered to the false gods. Daniels trust and his obedience caused God to bless him with knowledge and wisdom. Be obedient to God and trust Him even when someone makes fun of you. You might just find yourself in the same spot as Daniel. The Bible says the king found none equal to Daniel and his friends. Thats what you call a heavenly grade!

Attention Nursery and KidLife Jr. Parents Starting September 8, 2013

We are excited to announce Nursery and KidLife Jr. will be having a new check in process. As you are aware, the security and safety of our church family is very important to us. We are improving both the arrival and departure procedures of these classes. Thank you for helping us to ensure the safety of your children. Nursery: Please stop at the desk outside the door. Sign in your child on the clipboard, fill out a sticker and take a pager that matches the number on the sign in paper. Complete the sign in process by placing the identification sticker on the back of your child. A worker will take your child and their belongings into class. The same person who drops off your child must pick up them up, sign out on the clipboard and return the pager to the teacher at the door. KidLife Jr.: Please stop at the desk outside the classroom door. Sign in your child on the clipboard, fill out the sticker with your child's name and the number from the clipboard. Then, take a laminated number to match. Complete the sign in process by placing the identification sticker on the front of your child's shirt. The same person who drops off your child must pick them up, sign out on the clipboard and return the laminated number to the teacher at the door.

Please come to your child's classroom, if you see their number on the PowerPoint presentation

Getting a new school year off to a good start can influence childrens attitude, confidence, and performance both socially and academically. The transition from August to September can be difficult for both children and parents. Even children who are eager to return to class must adjust to the greater levels of activity, structure, and, for some, pressures associated with school life. Here are a few suggestions to help ease the transition and promote a successful school experience. Review all of the information. Review the material sent by the school as soon as it arrives. These packets include important information about your childs teacher, room number, school supply requirements, sign ups for after-school sports and activities, school calendar dates, bus transportation, health and emergency forms, and volunteer opportunities. Make copies. Make copies of all your childs health and emergency information for reference. Health forms are typically good for more than a year and can be used again for camps, extracurricular activities, and the following school year. Visit school with your child. If your child is young or in a new school, visit the school with your child. Meeting the teacher, locating their classroom, locker, lunchroom, etc., will help ease pre-school anxieties and also allow your child to ask questions about the new environment. Call ahead to make sure the teachers will be available to introduce themselves to your child. Set alarm clocks. Have school-age children set their own alarm clocks to get up in the morning. Praise them for prompt response to morning schedules and bus pickups. Reinforce your childs ability to cope. Give your child a few strategies to manage a difficult situation on his or her own. But encourage your child to tell you or the teacher if the problem persists. Maintain open lines of communication with the school. Let your children know you care. If your child is anxious about school, send personal notes in the lunch box or book bag. Reinforce the ability to cope. Children absorb their parents anxiety, so model optimism and confidence for your child. Let your child know that it is natural to be a little nervous anytime you start something new but that your child will be just fine once he or she becomes familiar with classmates, the teacher, and school routine.
