(Legislative Department) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 23rdFebruary, 2011 S.!9. ~~6(E).=In exercise of the powers conferred by section 28 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950 (43 of 1950), the Central Government, after consulting the Election Commission, hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, namely:1. (1) These rules may be called the Registration of Electors (Second Amendment) Rules, 2011. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960,(a) in rule 8B, in sub-rule (3), for the words "duly attested by the competent official of the Indian Mission in the country concerned", the words "duly selfattested" shall be substituted; (b) in the proviso to rule 10, after the words "Electronic Gazette", the words "or in the official web site of the Chief Electoral Officer of the concerned State" shall be inserted; (c) in the proviso to rule 16, after the words "Electronic Gazette", the words "or in the official web site of the Chief Electoral Officer of the concerned State" shall be inserted; (d) in rule 22, in sub-rule (1), in the proviso to clause (b), after the words "Electronic Gazette", the words "or in the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer of the concerned State" shall be inserted. Note : The principal rules were published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, vide notification number S.O. 2750(E), dated the 11th November, 1960 and last amended vide notifications(1) number S.O.1219(E) dated the 15 May, 2009. (2) number S.O.244(E) dated the 3rd February, 2011. (3) number S.O.306(E) dated the 9th February, 2011.
