Objective
This project aims at developing an editor which will have functionalities which a notepad doesnt have. The editor will be user friendly as everyone knows how to work on a notepad thus working on the editor wont be of much difficulty.

Introduction
A text editor ,in general, is a type of program used to edit plain text files. Text editors are often provided with operating systems or systems of software development packages , and can be used to configure files and programming Language source code. Various text editors are available in the market , e.g., vi editor and Emacs editor in UNIX , Simple Text and TextEdit editors in Macintosh , Notepad in Microsoft Windows , and so on. A text editor can be Graphical User Interface (GUI) based or Character User Interface (CUI) based. Notepad is the most common text editor used by almost all computer literate people . It is used to create simple documents . Some obvious disadvantages , which are known to everyone at the same time as a text editor like Notepad , are as follows : We cannot open or edit multiple text files at the same time as a text editor in general does not support multiple documents interfaces . Bulleted text cannot be inserted in text files. Notepad supports just two colors - Black and White (black as the text color and white in the background) .

Synopsis An Editor for Windows

We cannot take Print Preview of a document . We cannot view text with left , right , and center alignments simultaneously. The user has to go to the options in the various menus to any command since toolbars with shortcut commands are not available . So this Editor to some extent provide all those functionalities which are missing in a notepad which makes it a better editor than notepad .Notepad and this editor do have many feature in common but by providing those additional functionalities this editor makes itself a better choice than a notepad .

1. 2. 3. 4. Using this application we can open multiple windows in same application We could change the background colour. We could use bulleted text in this application. We could use multiple text colour in this application.

For the undergoing project, following tools will be used: Platform Operating System Front End Back End Hardware: Processor Memory Secondary Storage Intel Core i3 1GB RAM Hard Disk (50 GB) Windows Windows 7 Visual Studio 2010 Operating System

The project is currently in its initial phase. The designing part of the project is being carried out right now.

Target Audience
The Application is being developed for those common persons who find using other editor difficult and cant afford the paid editors like Ms Word. So this application can be used by anyone who has the knowledge of using a notepad.

Market Potential and Expected Popularity

This project has lot of potential because in todays world each and every individual personnel require quality product with maximum functionalities at minimum price and our project fulfil their requirements to some extent. Our project contains feature of both notepad and Ms Word thus would surely be popular among the common personnels.

Future Scope
In future we hope that this application will be used in place of notepad in the systems and would be included in windows package the same way notepad is included now a days and one day this editor will be the default editor for windows as well as other operating systems.
