Advancing Higher Education with Mobile Learning Technologies: Cases, Trends, and Inquiry-Based Methods A book edited by: Jared Keengwe, Ph.D., University of North Dakota, USA and Marian Maxfield, Ph.D., Ashland University, USA INTRODUCTION Many educators agree that technology is increasing and there are many advantages to integrating mobile technologies into the 21st century to support teaching and learning. Mobile technology tools such as iPads, iPad minis, mobile applications, e-readers, and smartphones are becoming real-world tools that should be integrated into the 21st century classroom for meaningful learning. As education continues to move into inquiry-based learning there is a need to focus on the best practices and instructional strategies of technology integration during inquiry-based approaches and the potential to positively affect and improve student learning. OBJECTIVE OF THE BOOK The focus of this book will be on assessing the effectiveness of mobile technologies within 21st century classrooms and possibly the Constructivist / inquiry-based learning environments on the teaching and learning processes and outcomes. Suggested themes include, but are not limited to the following: - Mobile Technologies and the Constructivist classroom - Mobile Technologies and Inquiry-based Teaching Methods - Mobile Technologies and Online Learning and Education - Mobile Computing and Ubiquitous Technologies in Education - Mobile Computing and Mobile Learning Technologies in Education - Social Media/Networks and Mobile Technologies in Education - The Benefits and Challenges of Mobile Technologies in Education - Mobile Learning Technologies and Applications in Education - Pedagogical Frameworks of Mobile learning Technologies - Teacher Development, Support, and Training with Mobile Technologies - Social Communications and Implications of in Mobile Learning in Global Learning - The Future of Mobile Learning Technologies and Applications in Education TARGET AUDIENCE This book is intended for academicians, professionals, and researchers in education or educational-related fields such as business education, music education, nursing education, science education, psychology, and health. This book will benefit school administrators, faculty, teachers, technology staff, directors of Teaching and Learning centers, and other stakeholders using or interested in using and integrating mobile technologies.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE Potential contributors are invited to submit a 2-3 pages chapter proposal outlining the proposed topic and/or issue to be discussed on or before September 15, 2013. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by October 15, 2013 about the status of their proposals and will be sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected on or before December 15, 2013. All chapters will undergo double blind review and returned to authors with suggestions for improvement. Revisions are expected by February 15, 2014. Final Book Materials are expected by March 31, 2014.
