air intake opening frame

Launching deviced : The facade wall opening frame Orcades is equipped with an electromagnetic magnet ensuring the launching by pulse or by break 24 Vcc or 48 Vcc (power 3,5 W or 1,6 W). The launching can also be done by pneumatic jack. It is equipped with a manual rearmament control.

Free movement

Grille with articulated vanes, made of aluminium frame in which aluminium blades pivot. The standard finish is anodised natural silver (paint option). The blades are synchronised by a linkage and opened by a spring. They will be kept closed in position. The water proofness and airtightness is ensured by the covering of the vanes. In the insulated version, the airtightness is reinforced by a gasket. In the insulated version, the blades are doubled with an expanded polystyrene M1 (K = 1,55 W/m2/C) of 23 mm, locked up in to a PVC case.

The installation of Orcades with a frame is highly recommended to maintain the rigidity of the set.

 Functioning principle
 Assembled on a facade, in a low part of the premises, Orcades ensures fresh air intake.

 Installation advice
T  he facade wall dampers Orcades are attached to a concrete wall (mechanism interior side) with the help of sealing frame or in a metallic wall.  Caution, foresee the clearance of the blades (140 mm) towards the exterior of the building.  Caution, complying to 6 of the appendix A fiche VIII, all the elements contributing to the rearmament (handle to manipulate and hanging system by magnetic coil) have to be at an inferior height of 3m in regards to the floor.

 Connection electric version

T  wo compression glands are delivered to receive the remote control and signalling cables.  The wiring has to be done according to the opposite diagram.

 Connection pneumatic version

C  opper pipe 6 mm to link to the Orcades.  Service pressure 4 Ps 6 bars.

 Selection of the Orcades

All the Orcades are with horizontal blades. Free area (rearmament manual / rearmament by jack) no difference of SLC between a standard Orcades and an insulated Orcades.

Sealing frame
The sealing frame is the linking element to fix the Orcades opening frame to the wall. Its use is recommanded for concrete wall assemblies. The frame is supplied in a kit with assembly instructions.

Covering grilles Cyclades

The grilles Cyclades Light/Medium/Extra will be fixed with 4 screws into the wall. These screws maintain the grilles frame against the wall. The grille Cyclades Light has a fixed core. The Cyclades Medium and Extra have opening cores.

Caution : you have to foresee a rear covering box (Orcades will exceed the wall) to be able to add a covering grille.

Rearmament jack kit

The rearmament jack can be assembled in factory or delivered, on already installed Orcades. They enable an electric closing of the wall opening frame after an opening (all or none). Technical information : - supply voltage : 24 Vcc. - jack consumption : 1,25 A. - circuit : 80 mm. - power : 400 N. This jack must be ordered with a supply case that will be able to control several wall opening frames equipped with jack (case to choose according to the number of jack equipped Orcades on the work site).

Definitions :  Free area of a wall damper : interior geometric area (provided that the wall damper opens at at least 60).  Useful area of wall damper : the useful area of wall opening frame is equal to the free area of this wall damper affected of a coefficient of 0,5. UDP : Passage unit. QE = extract air flow. QI = insufflation air flow.

IT 246 - The air intakes and the smoke evacuations are distributed, taking into account the localisation of the risks. IT 246 6.1 A wall opening frame can count on air intake grille and/ or smoke extraction; the area taken into account has to be positioned in the superior half of the corridor and has to be at more that 1.8m of the floor, the free area taken into account for the air intake has to be outside of the previously defined evacuation zone. IT 246 6.1 Each air intake and each smoke evacuation has a free area of minimum 10 dm2 by passage circulation unit.

For all roofs with a slope superior to 10 %, the smoke evacuations must be embedded at the highest possible, at a height to the average height under roof or ceiling. IT 246 The useful area of the wall dampers will be obtained affecting a coefficient of 0,5 of the free area. natural insuffation The air intake must be done in the free height of smoke HP (at low parts of the circulation).

The geometric area of the air entrances have to be at least equal to the geometric area of the outlets ensuring the extraction.

 S  moke extraction of stairs

T  o limit or avoid the stairwells filling up with smoke, they can be, depending on the case, smoke extracted by a natural flushing or a pressurising application in relation to the damaged premises. T  he DENFC will be placed on the high part of the stairwell, and an air intake, of equal surface, will be placed at the low part of the cage. The manual control of the smoke extraction system is placed on the stairwell, at the level of the building entrance.
