Introduction
We thank Allaah The Most High for making it possible to produce this work and then we thank
everybody who helped contribute to this final piece. This book was developed in order to help to
student better understand the book and can be used in conjunction with the English Key. The student
may also refer to the Lessons in Reading_English Translation, should he/she need to.
Each verb that is present in the book is displayed at the bottom of each page. The verbs will be
presented in the third person masculine, the third person masculine present, the command form of
the verb and also the source. These four forms should be learnt and memorised. For example:

The Second Lesson


The Islamic University
The studies began at the Islamic University in Medina on the second Sunday of Jumada Al Aakhirah in the
year 1381 AH. There are five faculties which are: the Faculty of the Holy Quran, the Faculty of Hadeeth, the
Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Da'wa and the Faculty of Arabic Language. There are many students at the
university who come from different countries studying the Arabic language and Islamic sciences.

The Second Lesson
The Migration
Allaah the Glorified ordered the Prophet peace be upon him to migrate from Makkah to Al
Madinah. During the night of the migration the disbelievers waited around the house of the
Messenger peace be upon him in order to kill him. The Prophet peace be upon him left him left his
home without any of them seeing him by the decree of Allaah. The Prophet and his companion
abu Bakr As Sadeeq May Allaah be pleased with him migrated to Al Madinah. They arrived soundly
and were greeted by the Ansaar and Al Muhaajirun with happiness.
Since the Messenger peace be upon him entered into Al Madinah, he established a brotherhood
between every Muhaajir and Ansaree... and he and his companions built Masjid Quba in the South
of Al Madinah and this was the first Mosque in Islam. Afterwards, they built the Prophets mosque
in the middle of Al Madinah.
The Prophet peace be upon him lived for ten years in Al Madinah delivering the message to the
people and performing Jihad against the disbelievers until Islam had spread and arrived in every
place in the world.

The Second Lesson
The Glorious Quran
The Glorious Quran is the book of Allaah which was brought down upon the illiterate Prophet peace
be upon him by Jibraeel The Trust-Worthy, to warn the people from the punishment of the Hell Fire
and to give them the glad tidings of the bounties of Paradise. In it (the Quran) are narrations of the
previous nations and stories of the Prophets and the Messengers. The Prophet peace be upon him
said, the best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it. And the Prophet peace be upon
him said, Whoever recites one letter from the Book of Allaah then he will receive a good reward, and every
good deed is rewarded with ten times its like. I do not say that Alif Laam Meem is one letter, but Alif is one
letter, Laam is letter word and Meem is one letter. And the Jinn said when they heard the Glorious Quran,

Indeed, we have heard a marvelous Quran. It guides us unto righteousness so we have believed it,
and we will never make partners with our Lord. Chapter Al-Jin Verse: 1, 2

Hishaam is Speaking
Hishaam said: Every day I wake up early before the morning call to prayer and I prepare for prayer
and then I pray of the universitys mosque. I then read the Glorious Quran and then eat my breakfast.
I then make my way to the institute. The studies finish at one o clock so I then pray the mid-day
prayer in the Mosque of the Faculty of the Arabic Language. I then eat my lunch and rest for a short
period. I then pray the afternoon prayer in the Mosque. I then go to the sports centre to play
basketball.
Before sunset I catch the university bus with the other students to the Prophets Mosque to perform
the Magrib and Esha prayers there. After I return to the university, I do my homework and revise my
notes and speak with my friends. After that I go to sleep at eleven o clock.

The Second Lesson
The Prayer (B)
The teacher said: The prayer is the second pillar from the five pillars of Islam and it is obligatory upon
every sane Muslim mature of age. It is forbidden to delay it past its time. Allaah the Most High says,
Verily the prayer has been prescribe for the believers and fix times. It is permissible for the traveler
and the one who is sick to delay (combine) Zhur with Asr and Magrib with Esha with the intention of
combination.
When the Muslim enters his prayer, it is disliked for him to turn his head from right to left and to click
his fingers and to raise his sight to the sky. Rather, he should fix his sight on the place of prostration.
It is disliked that he puts his hands by his sides. Rather, he should place his right hand over the left
above his chest. It is disliked for him (to pray) whilst withholding his excrement and his urine.

Saalih has many hobbies for example, reading, sending letters to friends, collecting stamps and
exercising. Saalih reads books and magazines and newspapers in his free time and he owns a very
larger library in his house. Saalih writes letters to his friends and they write back to him. Saalih
collects stamps from all over the world and he has a large book where he puts them in...This stamp in

The Second Lesson


Makkah
Makkah is a very old and sacred city. In it (Makkah) is the Holy Kabah which was built by Ibrahim and
his son Ismaeel upon them both be peace, by the command of Allaah Glorified be the Most High.
Around the Holy Kabah is a great Mosque, it is called (Al Masjid Al Haraam).
In front of the door of the Holy Kabah is the station of Ibrahim upon him be peace. In the eastern
direction from the Mosque is mount Safa and Marwah, and the blessed well of zam zam. Around
Makkah there is spacious vicinity called (Al Haram). Allah has made fighting and hunting forbidden
inside this area.
The Muslims face the Kabah in their prayers and they perform Hajj to it every year.
We love Makkah and it is the land of revelation and it is the birth place of the Prophet peace be upon
him.

In the hadeeth: If one of you eats, let him remember Allaah. If you forget in the beginning then say:
In the name of Allaah in the beginning and the end, and if one of you eats, then eat with your right
hand and if one of you drinks, then drink with your right hand. The son of Abbas may Allaah be
pleased with them narrated that the Prophet peace be upon him, prohibited that a man follows with
his eyes the meat of his brother. Abu Huraira may Allaah be pleased with him said, The Prophet
never used to criticize food ever. He is desired it he would eat it and if he disliked it he would leave
it.

The Seller of Fish
A man opened a shop in order to sell fish and he hung above the door of the shop a notice board and
it was written on it (here is a seller of fish). A man came and said to him: Why did you write the
word (here)? There is fish available here and there and there. So the seller of fish wiped away the
word (here).
A second man came and said to him, Why did you write the word (seller)? The people know that
you are a fish seller and you do not distribute the fish for free. The owner of the shop wiped away the
word seller.
A third man came along and said to him, Why did you write the word (fish)? The people can see the
fish and they can smell the fragrance. So the seller deleted the word (fish) and brought down the
notice board.
