Introduction
Fertility problems affect one in six couples and can cause undue stress and anxiety. Many fertility problems can now be overcome with the advances of medical science. However, not all fertility problems can be treated by medical aid. Nevertheless science has come up with a new technology that fulfils the need of having a child, SURROGACY. In order to assist the couples who desire to have a baby we have come with The Lifeline Surrogacy Clinic. Completely equipped with modern technology we shall understand and seek to respond in a professional and supportive manner. We have designed this guide to provide practical information to couples contemplating or opting for surrogacy at The Lifeline Surrogacy Clinic, so that they can best make informed choices and decisions. What is surrogacy ???

Surrogacy is an arrangement in which a woman carries and delivers a child for another couple or person. The surrogate may be the child's genetic mother (called traditional surrogacy), or she may be genetically unrelated to the child (called gestational surrogacy).

In a traditional surrogacy, the child may be conceived via home artificial insemination using fresh or frozen sperm or impregnated via intrauterine insemination or intracervical insemination. A gestational surrogacy requires the transfer of a previously created embryo.

Gestational Surrogacy
A woman, whose uterus is malformed Repeated miscarriages where the causes of miscarriage have been fully investigated Women whose ovaries are producing eggs but they do not have uterus or ruptured womb, or they were born without a uterus

Steps Involved
Consultation It is advised to the couples to attend the initial consultation so that both are involved in the discussions and the decision making. Assessment of the couple and the host An in depth review of the medical history from both partners and a physical examination is normally performed. Also the hosts medical history is reviewed, physical and internal examinations are performed, and the surrogates uterus is evaluated by ultrasound scan or hysteroscopy. Surrogacy procedure The procedure for IVF surrogacy involves the commissioning woman undergoes IVF treatment, fertilizing her eggs with her partners sperm. Then the subsequent embryo transfer into the host uterus. The surrogate is inseminated with the male partners sperm. The insemination maybe either intracervical insemination using neat sperm or intrauterine insemination using washed and prepared sperm. Pregnancy testing
The pregnancy test is usually performed about two weeks after embryo transfer or insemination. If the pregnancy test proves positive, an ultrasound scan will be arranged 2-3 weeks later in order to document number, viability and site of pregnancy.

Surrogate care and Management


The physical and emotional well-being of our surrogates is our number one priority. We have more than 20 staff dedicated solely to our surrogate mothers physical and emotional health, happiness and comfort.

Accommodation and Services provided


We provide accommodation for all surrogates enrolled in our program. Upon acceptance into our program each surrogate is allocated a room. A team of coordinators & caretakers either live at the surrogate accommodation or visit every day to assist our surrogate mothers with their every need. It is ensured that surrogates take prescribed medications, daily supplements to support pregnancy & are getting proper rest. They are also accompanied to their medical appointments, check-ups, scans and social outing. We also provide assistance to our surrogates families whenever there is a need. Also our surrogates have their children, husband, and family members visit.

Payment
Intended parents pay for accommodation, food & healthcare of their surrogate and her family.
