Divide a piece of A4 paper in half and have the children write My Needs and My Wants on either side. Glue a picture of them on the poster. The children are to list some of their needs and wants from the activity and classroom discussion on their poster. These can then be displayed around the classroom. Differentiation: Children can be assigned objects to classify as a need or a want. For example, weaker children can be given water or lollies, as these are both extreme examples of needs and wants. Children can be supported in creating their needs and wants poster by using a word bank instead of coming up with their own words. Writing: Students will: Write a list of things that they need and things that they want on a poster.

Photographs: Digital photographs will be taken of each Posters: Each childs poster will be assessed based on the extent to which they can discriminate between wants and needs. See Assessment Appendix 3 for assessment checklist.
