Lesson title: Assessment and evaluation of the program.


To provide opportunities for students to review and reflect on their learning and represent what they know.

Share their e-books with the class during a class viewing party. 6. Reflect on the unit of work and share what their favourite part was and what they would like to do in the future during Science. Learning Experiences Resources Teaching Strategies and Group Structure (whole class, small groups or individual) Brainstorm: Children will pick an animal and brainstorm where it lives, what it needs and the parts of its body. E-book creation: Children are to create an e-book about their chosen animal using photographs of themselves roleplaying as the animal from previous lessons or photographs from the internet. Children are to describe what the animal looks like, where it lives, what it needs and offer one suggestion on how to care for the animals habitat. Sharing: Once e-books have been made, the children are to have a viewing party and share their e-books with the class. The children should be encouraged to give feedback to other students and say what they liked about their peers e-books. Reflection: See Assessment Appendix 4. As a final activity, children should reflect on their experience in the unit and share their favourite part and something they would like to do in the future in Science. Literacy Focuses

Students will:

Class set of iPads.

1. Create a short e-book about an animal of Digital camera. their choice. SmartBoard. 2. Identify the parts of the animal and where it lives.

Oral Language: Students will: Brainstorm the parts of an animal, where it lives and what it needs. Give feedback to their peers on their e-books. Reflect on their experiences and share their favourite parts and what they would like to explore further in Science. Vocabulary: Students will: Use vocabulary from the class Word Wall in the construction of their e-book. Including: habitat, needs and names of body parts. Writing: Students will: Type the information for their ebook using the iPads.

Records: The childrens reflections on the unit and suggestions for future Science topics should be recorded and can influence the planning of the next unit of work. E-books: The childrens e-books will be assessed using a list of assessment objectives: 1. Identifies the parts of the chosen animal. 2. Identifies the four main needs of the animal. 3. Identify where the animal lives. 4. Gives one suggestion on how to care for the animals habitat. 5. Uses correct terminology that has been modeled throughout the unit.
