Overview: When trying to add x86 drivers from within an x64 OS or vice versa, the message below may be displayed.
The message may be displayed after following these steps: 1.0 2.0 On the x64 OS, click the additional drivers button on the sharing tab. Select the x86 option and click Ok:

This message informs us what needs to be done but not how to do it. The next section of this document describes the necessary steps in order to remotely upload the x86 driver to the x64 OS.

Procedure to remotely upload drivers: Important note: The driver version on both 32bit & 64bit OS must be the same. 1.0 2.0 3.0 4.0 Go to an x86 computer running Win 2K/XP/2003. This will be known as the client computer. Logon to the client computer using an account that has admin privileges and permissions on the printserver computer. Acquire and extract the Zebra Windows drivers to a folder on the client computer. Go to Start > Run and type in \\Printserver Where Printserver is the name of the host computer sharing the printer. Example:

A list of shared printers on the printserver computer should be displayed:

Double click the shared printer. If the drivers for the printer model are not installed on the client computer, you will get this message:

The printer will eventually be installed and the following dialog will be displayed:

After it is installed, on the client computer go to the sharing tab and click additional drivers.

Check the boxes for the additional environments that are to be supported and click Ok.

If you are prompted with the Files Needed dialog, browse to the folder containing the 32bit drivers on the client computer.

Verify the upload was successful. On the client or printserver computer, click the additional drivers button on the sharing tab. Verify Yes is displayed in the installed column as shown in the examples below. Example: Client computer (WinXP).

If another client x86 computer now connects to the shared printer, the driver files will automatically be installed on the client.

Notes: The additional drivers button will be disabled if you do not log on to the client machine using an account that has admin privileges on the printserver machine.

This message is the result of performing this procedure from an x86 Vista machine.
This message was generated because UAC was enabled on the x86 client Vista machine. Disable UAC to avoid this message.
