Asset Attributes Level1

Asset Categori Level 1

Asset Area
Asset Areas are used to logically sort the assets by
zones at which the asset resides.

Areas divide the maintenance plant or facility into zones,

which help to track and account for assets.

Areas will be associated with assts.

Asset Categories
y Assets are categorized by category codes and are used as naming conventions for assets by creating classes and subclasses. They are used to logically group assets, simplifying the search for asset numbers. Example: Cranes can be of different types like overhead cranes, Jib cranes etc. They can be named as CRANE. Overhead, CRANE. Jib etc.

Equipments can be categorized based on the application, Capacity, Type Etc.

Category Sets
yCategory codes are first defined, and then they are added to the Enterprise Asset Management Category Set. Once they belong to this category set, they can be associated with asset groups, which tie to individual assets.

Asset Group
y Asset Groups represent the classification of assets, which are virtually similar to each other Examples include Engines, Trucks, Pumps, Towers, Buildings, Storage Tanks and Turbines.

Note: While Defining Asset group we have to consider the manufacturer and model of the asset.

Asset Attributes
You can define attributes, such as Facility Information,
Engineering Specifications, Regulation Requirements, Horsepower, voltage, and Square Footage, by creating Attribute templates.

You then assign it to an Asset Group. This enables you to define additional characteristics data when
defining an asset associated with the Asset Group and also provides extensive query capabilities. Asset attribute groups are descriptive flexfields, defined by segments and values

Asset Numbers
y Serially Numbering of Assets with in each Asset group

Parent Child Relation ship can be maintained between

assets and Hierarchy can be formed.

You can use any one of the following methods to define new
assets within eAM: Define each asset number individually Copy information from an existing asset record Utilize the multiple asset entry method Use the Import Asset Number interface

Asset Hierarchy

Asset Bill of Materials

yAn asset BOM is the collection of all the components that make up an asset. Asset BOM can be used to list all components that make up a particular asset, and can be defined for each asset with in the asset group. The items defined on an asset BOM are standard inventory items and not maintainable

Navigation: ASSETS > ASSET BOM

Rebuildables
Rebuildable Items are the items that are installed, removed, and
refurbished. Examples of rebuildable spares include motors, control boxes, and computer boards.

Rebuildable spares are inventory items; optionally can be

serialized. When they attached to any asset they become child of the respective asset.

Rebuildable can be created by applying standard item template or

by copying the attributes of other Rebuildable Item.

Rebuildable Items can be serialized , as same as Asset numbers

Resources
A resource represents a craft, Tool or an external agent. You can enter multiple resources for each department. For each resource, you
can specify the shifts that the resource is available.

Navigation: REBUILDABLE > REBUILDABLE ITEMS

Department
A department represents a crew within your organization which is responsible for maintaining assets. A crew can include people, machines, or suppliers. Departments are also used to collect costs, apply overhead, and compare load to capacity. Departments are assigned to each operation of a routing and assign resources that are available for that department. The department assigned to each operation of a routing also becomes the assigned department of the corresponding operation within the Work Order, assuming the Work Order is using the routing.

Navigation: REBUILDABLE > REBUILDABLE ITEMS

Department Approvers
With a responsibility assigned to the current asset's owing
department, you can set up department approvers so that Work Request notifications can be sent to each approver, through Oracle Workflow.

Approvers can view these notifications on the Enterprise Asset

Management Self Service Maintenance Home Page.

Optionally you can select the Auto Approve Work Requests check
box in the eAM Parameters form. Work requests are automatically approved upon generation and default at Awaiting Work Order status.

Asset Activity
y Asset Activities are the brief description (heading)of jobs, which can be applied to preplanned work orders, such as Routine or Preventive Maintenance. They can be associated with one or more asset numbers or rebuildable spares. Maintenance Route ( Operations and Resources ) and BOM (materials required) shall be defined for each Asset Activity. When planned work orders are created for assets associated to the asset activity, the material and resources associated with the current asset activity automatically attach to the work orders created.

Activity Association
Asset Activities are associated to assets to enable us
define PM Schedules and routine Schedules.

Only the activities associated to the assets or vice versa

is available for defining the preventive maintenance schedule.

Maintenance Route
A maintenance route is the set of operations necessary to perform an
asset activity. When a work order is created for an asset activity, the maintenance route corresponding to the asset activity explodes to the work order

eAM operations are different from manufacturing operations.

Manufacturing operations must be sequential. In eAM operations may be Parallel.

One operation can be dependent on multiple operations. Multiple

operations can be dependent on only one operation. The dependency may not be totally connected.

Documents Can be attached at header and line level.

Maintenance BOM
A Maintenance Bill of material (BOM) can be used to list all items
needed to perform a particular asset activity, and can be defined for each asset activity.

As Maintenance BOMs are created, they are associated to an asset

activity

When a work order is created for an asset activity, the maintenance

BOM corresponding to the asset activity explodes to the work order

Asset Statuses
Shutdown of an asset is sometimes necessary to perform
a maintenance activity. You can create new shutdown information associated with an asset or view existing shutdown history information, already recorded to an asset. Shutdown information

All shutdown information entered within the Asset Status

window is for informational purposes only.

Asset Routes
To eliminate the possibility of creating multiple work
orders for the same activity, you can define Asset Routes.

You can define a Preventive Maintenance schedule for

your asset route to specify when an asset activity should be scheduled for the asset route.

Only day interval rules can be defined for

asset routes

Activity Work Bench

The Activity Workbench enables a user to:

Create and modify Activities, including activity

routings (Maintenance Routings), Activity BOM, and Activity attachments

Create and update Activity associations Define a Preventive Maintenance Schedule Define Suppression and view Last Service information

Meters
Meters are Entered to measure a Maintained Items and
Forecast Maintenance Activity

Three types of Meters are used in eAM

Ascending Meter Readings increase per unit of time, for example, a cars odometer.

Meter Readings decrease per unit of time. for example, some liquid dispensers start full and record decreasing readings.
Fluctuating

Descending

A meter that will have both ascending and descending meter readings.

Meter Association
You can associate a meter with an asset or rebuildable. Only meters associated with the asset are used while defining
the PM Schedules.

You have create Unit of Measure in the UOM form in

Inventory

Entering Meter reading

Meter readings are mandatory for work orders generated by
the PM scheduling engine.

When a work order is completed, meter readings are required

for all meters associated with the work orders current asset/ rebuildable that appear in the Runtime Interval rules in the PM Scheduling Definition form

You can enter stand-alone meter readings at any time

Schedule Set Name

A Set Name represents a unique scheduling rule for a
Maintained Number/activity combination.

Multiple PM schedules can belong to a Set Name. You can

select an entire Set to be used as the default scheduling rule.

Alternatively, you can select specific PM schedules across sets

as defaults for a Maintained Number/activity combination

Although a Set Name has a unique scheduling rule for an

item/activity combination, the same Set Name can also be used for other Maintained Number/Activity combinations.

PM Schedules
An activity and maintained number combination can be
associated with runtime interval and daytime interval rules, specifying when an activity should be scheduled for the maintained item.

The PM Scheduler process creates work orders based on these

rules. A planner views these forecasted work orders, and generates them as necessary.

An asset route can be associated with a day interval rule, but

not a run time interval rule. You can define a preventive maintenance schedule using the Schedule Definition form.

PM Schedules
The PM Schedule Consists of the following: Schedule Name Schedule Type Scheduling Options Last Servicing Information Suppressions

Suppressions
To avoid multiple work orders from being generated for the same
activity you can suppress the minor activity (oil change) within the major activity (servicing).

For every due date of the parent activity (major service), the
process checks for the child activitys (minor service) due dates. If the dates coincide or occur very near to each other, the child activity is suppressed and erased from the suggestion list. A work order is generated for the parent activity only.

An activity can be suppressed once only.

Generating Work Orders

You can generate work orders through either of the following
processes : Generate Preventive Maintenance Work Orders Concurrent Process Based on the parameters that you select, the program will create work orders taking into account the scheduling definitions. This process should be scheduled to run automatically at specific periods of time. You can run this process manually at any time by accessing the menu option. Maintenance Workbench By selecting a Work order and clicking the Implement Tab in the Forecast Work Orders window, you can generate a work order.

Work Orders
You can generate a work order using one of the following methods:

Automatically from a Preventive Maintenance Schedule Automatically by a material issue transaction of a

rebuildable component . Automatically as an easy work order from a work request Manually as a routine, easy, or rebuildable work order

Work Orders
Time and Labor Tracking

A maintenance work order tracks resource usage of employees

and equipment associated with the work order. It is important to capture both estimated and actual time spent on each operation of a work order.

In many cases, the extent of the workload is unknown until the

work starts.

You can determine the actual usage time of employees,

equipment, and miscellaneous materials for specific operations in a work order through Resource Charging.

Routine Work Orders

Routine work orders result from inspection and requests. There are two types of routine work orders: Work orders referencing a Maintenance Activity, and work orders not referencing a Maintenance Activity. Routine work orders are manually created by a Planner from the Maintenance Workbench, and can also be created using a menu option. Material and resource planning is used at each status of the routine work order.

PM Work Orders
Work orders that are created automatically based on meter readings, runtime intervals, and calendar days are called Preventive Maintenance Work Orders. These activities are carried out periodically, based on usage, or based on the condition of an asset. Meters are installed to record an assets performance and forecast servicing. When you have defined PM scheduling definitions, the PM scheduler creates work orders. PM work orders are also generated against serialized rebuildables.

Easy Work Orders

Easy Work Orders are unplanned work orders with no material and resource planning. Easy work orders are automatically created at Released status, enabling execution. Easy work orders are entered in eAM Self Service Maintenance

Work Order Status Lifecycle

Work Order Status Lifecycle

Draft You cannot schedule work orders at Draft status. You cannot charge labor, or request materials for work orders in this status. Unreleased You can move an eAM work order in Draft or Released statuses to Unreleased. Scheduling can take place for these work orders, but you cannot charge labor or request materials. You cannot change an Unreleased work order back to a Draft status. Released You can execute a work order when it is assigned Released status. You can charge labor, request materials, and schedule activities. You can release a Work order from the Work Orders form, the Maintenance Workbench, and within the Work Order Summary page in eAM Self Service.

Work Order Status Lifecycle

Complete The work order is considered Complete from the maintenance perspective. For an eAM work order to be assigned the status Complete, it does not require any operation to be complete When a work order is completed, you can still charge labor. You can also revert a work order it back to Released status. Closed The work order is closed from the accounting perspective. You cannot charge any accounts or perform any transactions once an eAM work order is closed. When a work order is closed the final costs is calculated and a work order history is created. You can revert a closed work order back to Complete status if the inventory accounting period has not been closed. .

Work Order Status Lifecycle

On Hold You can place a release or unreleased work order on hold. You cannot charge labor or request materials for a work order at this status. . Closed You can cancel an eAM work order at any status in its lifecycle.

Rebuild Work Orders

Items that are installed, removed, and refurbished are referred to as rebuildable items. Rebuildable items can be serialized or non-serialized. Rebuild work orders are generated against the rebuildable items to define a maintenance activity for them. Rebuild work Orders can be Stand alone or they can be linked to a Parent Work Order. In this case, the cost of the Rebuild work order is charged to the the Parent Asset Work Order.

Material Transaction
You can issue material from inventory to a work order through a material transaction. Material requirements are created on eAM work orders with a supply type of push. You can also issue material that is not on the work order. Non-stock and Direct items are transacted via Direct Item Procurement. Material can also be issued by storeroom personnel using the Maintenance User responsibility.

Resource Transaction
Resources define the time an assembly spends at an operation and the cost you incur on an operation. It includes and is not limited to: employees, machines, outside service providers, and physical space. Outside Service resources are charged to the work order upon receipt from Purchasing.

Operation Completion
The Maintenance route comprises operations necessary for completing the activity. You can Complete and Uncomplete operations. If an operation is dependent upon another operation, you cannot uncomplete that operations dependency if the current operation is complete. For example, operation 20 is dependent on operation 10 completing. You cannot uncomplete operation 10 once operation 20 has been completed. You can also Uncomplete a completed operation.
