2009-2010: A great reason to
be thankful
Holy Child Main Campus is more than
grateful to all the parents who remain to
be loyal and continuously believe in the
school’s cause and thrust. This year’s
retention rate is 95%, which is higher than
last year’s rate of 88%. In spite of the
financial crisis, the HCEC parents still
hold on to their unwavering commitment
to their child’s education in the mantle
protection and leadership of HCEC.
In response to this steadfast belief and
trust of the HCEC parents, the school re-
commits and re-dedicates its mission and
vision for the maximum development of
the HCECians.

Grade 1 Obedience Parents
almost hit the target
At 92% attendance, the Grade 1 Obedience
Parents almost hit the 100% target! With this
they manifested their support and collaboration
to the Parents’ Orientation last June 20, 2009. It
was held for the new parents and members of the
grade school division. To get oriented with the
systems, procedures and policies in HCEC Grade
school.
Likewise, the General PTA Assembly held in the
afternoon for the parents from other levels had a
positive response compared with the last year’s
data.
With 70% attendance, a +14% increase in
attendance is acceptable.

Important academic issues were expounded to the
assembly by the school principal, the institutional
academic theme was presented by the Head of
Discipline, Mr. Dominic Bagacina and the major
school activities and initiatives by the Office of
the Student Affairs were presented by Mr. Melvin
Federis.
The election of Homeroom Parents’ Officers were
held after the general meeting, after which, the
level representatives were chosen from among the
elected presidents in every level. (Please see the
other page for the complete list) Congratulations to
all the elected HR Parent Officers and Level
Representatives. The school appreciates your
willingness to serve the school for the great cause for
your children’s welfare.
Dance
Dance Academy Recital, First in
HCEC
The very first Dance Workshop for the
grade school held last summer yielded 21
young kinesthetic dancers who showed
their prowess in dancing the different
genres of dances during their First Dance
Recital last June 19, 2009. From hip-hop to
folkdance to Jazz to Ballroom dance, the
Dance Academy Dancers (DADs) put the
grade-schoolers into amazement and
wonders as they gracefully swayed and
moved into the groove. The Dance
Workshop is a pilot project to come up
with a group of performing artists who will
eventually be members of the Dance
Academy, the official dance troop of
HCEC grade school. This is under the
training tandem of Mr. Jerickjson Getizo
and Mr. Arjay Dimanarig, grade school
teachers.

Dancing and music instruments enhance
the right brain development.
-Brain Based Learning Theory
45 grade school pupils benefited from
the school’s program “ the Applied
Music class” which was started last
academic year. Under this program,
pupils were given a one-on-one class in
music specifically playing their chosen
instrument. Their performance is
credited in their music grade which is
under MAPE subject.
It has been noted that children with
exposure in arts-whether visual or
performing arts, gain more self-
confidence, establish self-discipline and
focused attention which are important
skills in personality and academic
advancement. Brain-Based Learning
Theory states that

help in the balanced

recognizes the importance of allied

learning; thus this year two new courses
will be offered: The Flute Workshop
for the Bamboo Band and the Dance
Workshop for Dance Academy.

their Music or PE Class in which case,
they will use their time as their
additional special training
day aside from their
Saturday regular training
class. For those who are interested, please

Bamboo Band for Grade
schoolers
In response to some requests to come up
with more musical instruments where
pupils can enroll under the Applied Music
Class, Flute Workshop will be held every
Saturday at 9:00-11:00 am. Attendees of
the workshop will be trained to be
members of the HCEC Bamboo Band
which will represent the school in outside
performance. Being under the applied
Music Class, the Flutist has the option to
join or not to join the regular Music class.
Their performamce in playing the flute
will be the basis of their grades in the said
subject. The Flute Workshop is open to all
pupils in Grades 3-6 but is being offered
also to those grades 1-2 pupils who are
interested to learn the instrument. The
Bamboo Band has an open slot for 50
members who will have an equivalent
ARA points as members, if to represent
the school in an off-campus performance,
a corresponding point shall merit the
pupil. However, flutists to join the
outside performance will be chosen
according to their perfromance.

will be held every Friday which will start
on July 10, 2009 3:30-5:30 pm. Graduates
of the Dance Workshop will be part of the
Dance Academy Dancers (DADs) which
will be the official HCEC Dance Troop.
Membership will be under particular
guidelines and policies to regulate the
quality of the members. A corresponding
ARA point will also merit the members of
the DADs. Likewise, outside performance
will also be given ARA points where
members who will join shall be according
to their level of performance.
