The Michigan Theatre Free Concert Ad Proposal

Purpose: to promote a free concert at The Michigan Theatre this


coming March

Goals: to appeal to the Jackson community and draw a crowd of young


adults to the event

Anticipated Results: increased awareness and attendance at this


upcoming event
This poster appeals to the crowd that favors indie rock, the genre of all of the bands. The bands are emphasized by the direct center placement and the font utilized. The poster is visually pleasing, easy to read, and very direct in informing the target audience about key details of the event. The type is very current and attractive. The graphic feature of the arrow rouses attention and directs the viewers eye movement throughout the ad. Keeping things simple will maintain focus on the ads message. The background image reemphasizes that this concert is in the heart of Jackson and is in one of Jacksons most beloved locations. The logo is a recognizable symbol that shows where the concert will take place.

Large Poster:

The date is at the top of the flyer so that the date will be memorable. We have used an arrow to direct the eye to the remainder of the poster as well as add some visual interest to the overall design.

The headline text directly under the date is altered and manipulated to draw the eye in and display the theatres name more prominently. An original photo of the area behind and surrounding the theatre is used in the background to draw the attention of the community and to feature the venue itself. The word FREE is emphasized in hopes to draw a larger crowd.

By using a font different from that used in the headline and detailed information, attention is drawn to the bands. Both the opening time and the starting time are listed clearly and boldly so that they will not be missed.

The familiar and recognizable logo is used at the base of the photo so that viewers in the community will be familiar with the venue.

Items available for purchase are listed so people will be aware of their options.

Flyer:

By tilting the band names and setting them in another font, we have separated and emphasized them.

The arrow at the end of the headline is tilted at the same angle as the band names in order to lead the eye directly to them.

The date and times are clearly listed so that they will not be missed. Again, the word FREE is very large to emphasize the fact that the event will be at no cost.

The headline is tilted 90 to add visual interest to the design.

The logo is added to the bottom of the flyer because it is recognizable to the public and will reinforce the familiarity of the venue.
