What is the Major Challenge for Todays Technological Companies?

K. Craig 3

The Challenge
Societys problems are getting harder, broader, and deeper and are multidisciplinary in nature. Basic engineering skills have become commodities worldwide. An engineer is the quintessential critical thinking, problem solver. Engineers must provide high value by being immediate, innovative, integrative, conceptual, and multidisciplinary.
K. Craig 4

How can a company transform itself and its workforce to successfully design and implement multidisciplinary engineering systems?

K. Craig 5

What is Innovation and How Does a Company Achieve It?

K. Craig 6

Innovation
Innovation is Local. You dont import it. You dont export it. You create it. It is a way of thinking, communicating, and doing.

Challenges are met and problems are solved by changing culture attitude and behavior and instilling ownership.
Consensus something in which no one believes and to which no one objects is not a substitute for shared ownership.
K. Craig 14

Human-Centered Design
HumanCentered Design requires interdisciplinary collaboration, an iterative process with frequent prototyping, and engagement with real people.

Is The Comparison Adequate ?

NO

In evaluating concepts, a modeling-and-analysis approach must replace any design-build-and-test approach, but this modeling is multidisciplinary and crosses domain boundaries.

What Concrete Steps Can a Company Take to Implement a Mechatronics Design Approach?
