Most acknowledge that heaven is a wonderful place. Why? Because everything is in perfect
harmony (in right order) and conforms to“The Will”of God. 1 Peter 4:2

have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” Sin affects the Death
relationship!
Sin is no a small issue. Whole worlds have perished because of sin (pre-flood civilization –
Genesis 6:5-7); whole countries (former inhabitants of the “promised land” – Leviticus 18:25,
“And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself
vomiteth out her inhabitants.” Also Deuteronomy 20:17-18); whole cities (Sodom and
Gomorrah); and multitudes of individuals perished due to sin. God Hates Sin!
No where in the Bible does God justify sin or excuse it! Sin is not overlooked, rather God sent
His Son, Jesus to become the sacrifice for our sins! Jesus became sin for us. 2 Corinthians 5:21,
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him.” Sin bringeth forth death James 1:15

The essence of sin is a heart that refuses to totally yield to God. One determined to retain
control of their life. When you come to Jesus you must forsake that old sinful rebellious life
and come to the light. You must yield totally to Him and make Him Lord of our life! You must
lay down all opposition to God. There are no conditions on your part. If you do not then you

8 Many will not choose to part with their sin very easily. Let us examine the original sin of man:
Genesis 3:3-5, “But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said,
Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman,
Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall
be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” If you believe you can
Satan’s Lie: That you can sin against God and live! sin, you’re deceived!
The deception many “professed believers” have accepted is that you are clothed in the
righteousness of Christ and it doesn’t really matter how you live.
Man’s Man accepted Satan’s word over God’s and thereby submitted to
the devil.
Rebellion:Man rebelled and chose to put himself in the place of God – to determine good &
evil for himself, to live his own life and carry out his own will – to consciously disobey God.
Jesus came to bring reconciliation between man and God. Jesus did not come to allow you to
continue to sin – the very thing that separated man from God. In other words, God has not
yielded to man on the issue of sin! Galatians 2:17, “But if, while we seek to be justified by
Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God
forbid.” Jesus came that we might overcome sin through
him!

9 The finished work of Christ is not a license to sin!

Do you really think that the Lord God Almighty would send His Son Jesus down to this earth to
endure the suffering and death on the cross so that you could be justified to live in continued
sinfulness, the very thing that God hates? God is not mocked! Galatians 6:7
You’ll reap what you sow
Is God divided?
Mark 3:24, “And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.”
Matthew 12:25, “And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided
against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not
stand:” God is not divided over sin or anything
Jesus said: John 10:30, “Ielse!
and my Father are one.” Also, John 1:1, “In the beginning was the
Word (Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
Sin sacrifices were always for existing violations of God’s law to appease an offended
righteous God, never for violations that had yet to be committed. Sacrifices never allowed one
to continue sinning (did not provide a covering for evil and wickedness). There is forgiveness
for confessed sin (1 John 1:9) due to God’s mercy, but NO justification to live wickedly.
10 Many have been incorrectly taught that Jesus’ sacrifice covers continued sinfulness. Most have
been taught that we cannot defeat sin and God accepts us in our sins due to Christ’s sacrifice.
Why did Jesus He loved you so much; He laid His life
come? down
Matthew 1:21, “And she shall bring forth afor
son,you.
and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for
he shall save his people from their sins.” Jesus does not save you for
yourto sin!
1 John 3:5, “And you know that he was manifested take away our sins; and in him is no sin.”
Many people think that Jesus came to save them from Hell. This is not the case. Hell is the
consequence of sin (wickedness). Jesus came to save you from your sins. To be saved from sin
is to be saved from the love of sin. Too love sin is to practice sin – to be comfortable in it.
Has your desire to sin been taken away? Do you even see sin as a problem? If not, you have
never understood your wickedness and certainly never truly repented. Seek God

John 3:3, “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Old things are passed
away- sin & self

11 1 John 3:7-9, “Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous,
even as he (Jesus) is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth
from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the
works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in
him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” It’s a serious
Have the devil’s works been destroyed in your life – your outlook/heart?
issue! What is Satan’s lie?
You can sin and not die
Does it really make any sense to think that Jesus Christ’s (who was totally righteous)
incredible sacrifice on the cross would allow you can take on the devil’s nature (identify with
total wickedness) and still be saved. What sort of reconciliation to God would that be?
The unmistakable message to us from Calvary’s cross is that God hates sin and will judge it
severely! To be freed from the power of sin is the theme of the New Testament!
For sin shall not have dominion over you - Romans
John 8:36, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
6:14
Matthew 11:29-30, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in
heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Hebrews 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace,
12 What About Grace? that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Many will persist and say that their sinfulness is covered under God’s Grace. They say that
God’s unmerited grace allows them to sin and identify with the devil because it is a nature that
cannot be overcome in this life. Grace is not given at the expense of

of God in renewing the heart and restraining from
sin. God’s help offered to us according to our present need. If we need to
overcome sin, grace can endue us with sufficient power, If we need forgiveness,
grace can forgive us. If we need to be faithful in a time of testing, grace can
increase our faith. God’s grace is always sufficient for our every need.
Titus 2:11-14, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching
us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly,
in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and glorious appearing of the great God and
our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity
(sin), and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” 
Romans 5:21, “That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through
righteousnessunto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” Only through
righteousness!
13 Any doctrine of grace that takes away the fear of sinning is a false gospel. The message must
lead you to God, not away. If a doctrine enables you to sin lightly and to ask forgiveness
cheaply, without the deep sorrow and extreme hatred for sin that true repentance brings, then
you can be sure it is deception from Satan. Some Ravening wolves in

15 Continuing In The Flesh?

Those that persist to live for themselves should count the cost. To be carnal (or live in the flesh)
is to be unregenerate - that is not having died to self. If you are carnal then you have not let go of
the old man (nature). They that are in the flesh cannot

of God, neither indeed can it be. So they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”
Romans 8:13, “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the spirit do

instability
Galatians 6:8, “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that
soweth to the Spirit shall of the spirit reap life everlasting.”Thoughts become actions
Romans 13:14, “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to
fulfill the lusts thereof.” Make no options for the flesh!
A follower of Christ lives to glorify God above all else (at all times),
the sinner rejects God’s claim on his life and lives to please himself.
16 If you could really do as you please under the cloak of Christ’s righteousness then you
could just throw out the bulk of the Bible as unnecessary information.
Galatians 3:3, “Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now
made perfect by the flesh?” A true believer lives to glorify God – putting all faith and trust
in Him alone. Supreme commitment to Christ – you follow
and obey for there is no other way.
Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:
and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me,
and gave himself for me.” I die daily!Die to self so that Jesus can live in you, 1 Corinthians 15:31.
2 Corinthians 5:15, “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live
unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” It’s not about you!
Colossians 3:3, “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
Romans 8:4, “That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after
the flesh, but after the Spirit.” He that is dead is free from sin! Romans 6:7
Romans 8:1, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who
walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Be Righteous and
Holy

17 Power From On High

Some will say it’s too hard (not willing to conform to Christ’s image). You
must remember that it’s not in your strength, but the strength that God
gives you. “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go

18 Dying To Self 2live

Timothy 2:11, “It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also
with him:”
If you have not died to self (your old way of life) then you are still unregenerate (unrenewed in
the heart). The old life (old man) would be that self-willed, self-seeking, rebellious, sinful
person that does what is right in his own eyes. One determined to live according to his own will
in a manner based upon his own fleshly desires. Laying down all opposition to
Romans 6:4-6, “Therefore we are buried with himGod by baptism into death: that like as Christ was
raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of
life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the
likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body
of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”
Ephesians 4:22-24, “That ye put off concerning the former conversation (life) the old man, which
is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye
put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
You Become:2creature: Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
If you live as the world then you have not let go of
the old man.
19 Losing your life for Jesus:
Take
Matthew 10:39, “He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake
shall find it.” Note!
Matthew 16:25, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life
for my sake shall find it.” Live for self and die!
Mark 8:35, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for
my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.”
Luke 9:24, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for
my sake, the same shall save it.” Die to self and live!
Luke 17:33, “Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his
life shall preserve it.”
John 12:25, “He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall
keep it unto life eternal.”
A point is being made here! We are to put aside our desires, ambitions, and
control of things, and yield totally to God – lose our life. In doing so we will find it and
secure it eternally! Jesus gives life more John 10:10
abundantly

knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear
false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. And he answered and said unto him,
Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and
said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast (forsake all), and
give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and
follow me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great
possessions.” Do you set limitations on following God?
Following God means that you are willing to adhere to all of His Word (Bible), not just the
parts that are appealing or do not require sacrifice on your part (the positive gospel where God
does everything for you). Are you willing to yield your comfort zones to God? Abraham was
willing to sacrifice (kill) his precious son. Noah spent 120 years building an ark. Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into a fiery furnace, David faced Goliath. Faith
Here’s your chance
22 Obedience = Love Do You Love Jesus? to prove it!
We know God loves us because he sent his son to die for us (John 3:16). How do we show love
to God? John 14:15, “If ye love me, keep my
commandments.”
John 14:21, “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he
that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”

his commandments are not grievous.” Do you see a pattern here?
Revelation 22:14, “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to

Revelation 14:12, “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments

25 Worldliness
I John 2:15-17, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love
the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is of the world, the lust of the flesh,
and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the
world passeth away, and the lust thereof: But he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.”
Romans 12:2, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Mark 4:19, “And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of
other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.” God’s Path

overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth
that Jesus is the Son of God” Be unspotted by theNarrow world!James 1:27
2 Corinthians 6:17, “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord,
and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”
You cannot serve the world and Christ! Matthew 6:24
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other…”

26 Feelings My doctrine or belief just “seems” right. I feel good about it.

Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who
can know it?” Wicked – Evil in principal or practice. Sinful; immoral.
Proverbs 16:25, “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the
ways of death.” The human heart can be a very vicious, rebellious
entity that deviates from the commandments of God

My Denomination says…Matthew 15:9, “But in vain they do worship me,
teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Read God’s Word!
The Preacher says…Colossians 2:8, “Beware lest any man spoil you through
philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not
after Christ.” All things examined in the light of
God’s Word!

27 Are you Blind? You may call yourself a Christian & go to church everyday, but be honest!
The unbelieving and deceived are totally blinded to the truth of Gods Word. You must pray
that God will open your understanding and draw you unto Jesus. Seek Him
2 Corinthians 4:4, “In whom the god of this world hath blinde the minds of them which
believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, dwho is the image of God, should shine
unto them.” The light exposes the sin and wickedness! Not

honest and admit one or more of the following: 1) Live for self; 2) Not denied self
for Jesus; 3) Still living as before they confessed Christ; 4) Do not read God’s Word and pray
daily; 5) Are worldly (how about sinful television?); 6) Sow to the flesh; 7) God has not been

What must I do? Repent! Change course/direction!
28 Jesus’ Message Was To Repent!
John the Baptist taught repentance in preparing the way for Christ: Mark 1:3-4, “The voice of
one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. John did
baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentanc for the remission of sins.”
e repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Matt 4:17, “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say,
Jesus taught repentance: Luke 5:32, “I came not to call the righteous, but sinnersto
repentance.” Mark 1:15, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand:
repent ye and believe the gospel.” Luke 13:3, “I (Jesus) tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye
shall all likewise perish.” Luke 15:7, “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over
one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no
repentance.” (also read Matthew 4:17, 9:13, 11:20; and Mark 2:17, 16:30)
Jesus said: Luke 24:47, “And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his
name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. It’s not an option!
The disciples taught repentance: Acts 2:38, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift
of the Holy Ghost.” Mark, 6:12, “And they went out and preached that men should repent.”

29 What is Repentance? (What Must I Do?)

Repentance is a changing of mind about one’s sin, one’s relationship with God, and about
Jesus Christ. It is sorrow for sin – a heart determined to forsake sin. Sorrow and regret for past
sins is not sufficient. The old wicked nature and sinful lifestyle must be abandoned. Biblical
faith demands and produces costly and radical changes in one’s life.
Isaiah 55:6-7, “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him, while he is near: Let
the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the
Lord, and he will have mercy on him.” Supreme commitment to Christ
Proverb 28:13, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and
forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Submit to Jesus as Lord of your Life!
Acts 2:36
Repentance focuses on what must be released and forsaken (sins/old lifestyle) prior to what
may be gained (mercy and grace). There is a fundamental difference between a Christian
2 Peter 3:9, Isaiah 1:18, Isaiah 59:2, and an unbeliever. The Christian lives to Glorify God,
Luke 13:3, Acts 3:19, Psalm 86:5 the sinner rejects God's claim on his life and lives to
please himself. Yield to God!

Romans 2:4, “Or despisest thou the riches of his (God’s) goodness and forbearance and
30 longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentanc?
e count slackness; but
2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men
is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentanc.” He’s longsuffering and full of grace now – all

Psalms 51:1-3, “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto

Jesus said: Luke 11:30, “For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of
man be to this generation.” The time to repent is now! Will you?
Luke 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Jesus has called for repentance – to turn, forsake, let go of all our wicked ways. God is
merciful now, but He will next come in judgment.” The question – Will you follow the gospel?

If you have sought God and truly repented, then Great Joy!
Newness of life!
2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
John 3:3, “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a
man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Conformed to God’s
will!
The Lord regenerates (renews) us. We have new desires and affections. We serve from the
heart, not out of compulsion. Our greatest delight is to know and do God’s will.
Philippians 2:13, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
Repent, be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost – Acts 2:38
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, which the Father will send in my name, he shall
teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
John 14:26
You now become dead to sin, self and the things of this world. You are a new person in Christ
Jesus! Everything that is abominable to God must become loathsome to
you.

If you have truly repented and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, understanding that the

36 Conclusion Suppose you were in a deep dark forest. There were many obstacles
such as thorns/briars, wild animals, quick sand, thick brush, jagged rocks, and high mountains
with narrow ledges. Suppose it was pitch black and you had no light. You were hopelessly lost
and without provisions. If an expert guide suddenly showed up with knowledge of how to
traverse the forest and mountain and had all the necessary provisions you would need (without
any cost to you). Would you not be thrilled? Would you not explicitly obey the guide’s
directions? Wouldn’t all your faith and trust be in the guide as your Savior? Such is life!
You can attempt to go through this life on your own. Perhaps you will become hopelessly
entangled in the cares of this world, or be devoured by your adversary (devil) and his schemes
or sink in you own desires. You walk blindly not knowing what the future holds or the outcomes
of your many decisions. God knows everything! He wants the best for you. Won’t you put your
faith and trust in Him alone? Your efforts will fail – It’s a given. His way will never fail.
The victory has already been won! Jesus secured the
victory
Matthew for you!

upon a rock.” Build your life on a sure foundation –God’s
