Scotties get Melbyd again

Scotty X-Country Results from Malta Invitational

Bakers Mason Melby continued where he left off last year on the gridiron against Glasgow and then some. In last years quarterfinal game of the Class B football playoffs, Melby rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on Scotty Field to help lead the Spartans to a 16-13 victory. This past Friday night, playing on his own turf, he racked up 142 yards, 52 of them on one play in the opening minutes for his first of two touchdowns in the contest. He would also tack on a couple of PATs. And Bakers running attack didnt stop there. Jonathan Wiseman also had hundred-yard-rushing effort with 103 yards. It didnt help matters to lose starting quarterback Jason Thibault with an injury to his throwing hand early in the game. Scotty Head Coach can see a reflection from last season take a severe beating on the road in the early going (last year Fairfield took it to the Scotties 35-7 in their third game into the regular schedule) and hopefully learn from the mistakes and move on. Well likely see a much more focused Scotty team come this Friday night when they host the Shelby Coyotes for Homecoming. The Coyotes come here sporting a 3-0 record with victories over Choteau (14-12), Plains (54-34) and most recently Harlem (32-14). While classmates are busy building floats with the theme Shipwreck Shelby, the Scotsmen will be putting in some hard practices this week to hopefully do just that. Heres how the top 10 teams from the AP Class B power poll fared:
1. Missoula Loyola (1-0) beat Manhattan 20-13. 2. Glasgow (1-1) lost to Baker 34-0. 3. Huntley Project (3-0) beat Red Lodge 21-0. 4. Fairfield (0-1) lost to Townsend 23-14. 5. Bigfork (2-0) beat Florence 20-0. 6. Baker (2-0) beat Glasgow MONDAY 34-0. Soup: Potato Ham & Bean 7. Manhattan (1-1) lost to Chili Missoula Loyola 20-13. Specials: 8. Townsend (2-0) beat Tetrazini Cheeseburge Deluxe Fairfield 23-14. 9. (tie) Malta (1-1) beat Dine at theO Roundup 46-0 9. (tie) Eureka (2-1) lost to Conrad 28-14.
