FACTS & FIGURES

The wreck 300 meters length over 114,000 gross tonnage

The installments Over 30,000 tons of steel have been used in the construction/fabrication of all components used for the parbuckling and refloating plans. That means they are equivalent to 4 times the weight of the Eiffel Tower The platforms 6 platforms: the 3 large platforms measure 35 x 40 meters each; the 3 small platforms measure 15 x 5 meters each. If placed end to end they are 1 football fields long The 6 platforms are supported by 21 pillars with diameter of 1,6 meters each and plunged foran average of 9 meters in the granite seabed The chains 56 chains in total of which 22 chains are installed in the portside and go under the wreck to the hold back towers Each chain is 58 meters long and weights about 26 tons The artificial seabed It is made up of 1,180 individual grout bags with a volume of over 12,000 cubic meters and over 16,000 tons in weight The sponsons 11 steel sponsons are installed on the portside of the wreck: 2 long horizontal sponsons; 2 long vertical sponsons and 7 short vertical sponsons each short vertical sponson has the height of a 7-storey building; measures 21.8 x 11.5 x 10.5 meters; has a weight of about 400 tons; provides about 2,400 cubic meters of buoyancy each long vertical sponson has the height of an 11-storey building; measures 33 x 11.5 x 10.5 meters; has a weight of about 523 tons; provides about 3,600 cubic meters of buoyancy each long horizontal sponson has the height of a 11-storey building; measures 33 x 11.5 x 10.5 meters; has a weight of about 540 tons; provides 3,600 cubic meters of buoyancy. The blister tanks 2 steel blister tanks are connected together and installed at the wrecks bow They measure 23 meters in length, 20 meters in height each and have a total breadth of about 36 meters The whole structure (the two blister tanks, the tubular frame and the three anchor pipes) weights about 1,700 tons. That means they are equivalent to 7 times the weight of the Statue of Liberty They provide a net buoyancy of 4,500 tons to the bow section

Marine operations 22 vessels and 8 barges involved in the project activities The 2 biggest are the Lone and the Micoperi30: The M30 measures 122 meters in length, almost the same length of the Notre Dame Cathedral The Lone measures 160.5 meters in length, almost the same length of the shortest route of the Coliseum over 28,000 hours of underwater shooting of operations by ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) over 15,000 individual dives

The people over 500 people work on the project: about 120 divers about 70 welders/carpenters/fitters about 60 technicians/grouters/pilots and ROV technicians about 60 coordinators/salvage officers/security-safety and health officers about 50 engineers about 140 crew members about 10 biologists from Universit La Sapienza - Roma, Universit di Genova, Oceanomare-Delphis 26 nationalities

The parbuckling from the current position, the wreck will be rotated of 65 to acquire a vertical position During the parbuckling the whole system will provide a force of about 23,800 tons to let the wreck rotate
