MargaritaJunia in her acceptance speech intimated that with the warm welcome from the DPWH staff and personnel here, she feels safe with her new assignment. As the new District Engineer she said she is open to communication, accepts constructive criticism if she has done something wrong, accepts advices but dislikesgossips. She said she needs help and support of all division heads and the staff and personnel toachieve whatever plans and goals that she wants to reach. In steering the wheels of DPWH as its head she said also wants teamwork and bonding. However, she admitted there are still many things to be done with regards to infra projects in the province. The outgoing amiable District Engineer did not also forget to thank the local media for helping him in the dissemination of his district infra projects thru their broadcast and published stories.

Asked if she could sustain the honor reaped by her predecessor, sheconfessed she feels the pressure now, but said she will do her best she could. I will still first visit the different municipalities to see what are the things that need to be done,she said. Queried by the press for his reaction of the revamp, incumbent Governor Mercado claimed he is happy for Veloso.He will be given the opportunity to serve another District like Leyte 11,he said.A time tasted and progressive-driven Engineer,Veloso could equally do in another District what he has done in Southern Leyte. Earlier, Assistant District Engineer Manolo Rojas in his long speech thanked Veloso for choosing him as his assistant and for entrusting him in three important functions as competent and capable of doing the task assigned to him. He also thanked the division heads for their support. Later,Veloso has turned over the offices symbolic key to Junia.DPWH Chief Accountant Daisy Mahusay then walked over towards the improvised stage with books and handed over for signature by both the outgoing and the incoming District Engineers. After the signing of books of accounts, she introduced all her primary staff including her father, cousins and daughters who are both nurses.
